HVAC Assistant Technician

Description

To assist in providing a clean, healthy, safe, and well-maintained environment for conference center guests through preventative maintenance and repair of boilers, hot water systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical systems

Responsibilities

• Assist with repair and preventative maintenance on all mechanical, electrical, and environmental control systems 
• Assist with install and/or replacement of mechanical equipment and related accessories, HVAC systems, energy management systems, and refrigeration equipment
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining energy management systems to provide indoor air quality and comfortable temperatures of interior spaces

Requirements

• High level of integrity and strong work ethic
• Ability to meet quality standards
• Maintains a working knowledge of current technologies in HVAC areas
• Familiar with National Electrical, Fire Alarm, and local codes concerning all mechanical systems
• Maintain understanding of basic electronics
• Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprint drawings

Education, Work Experience, and Other Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Required certification to reclaim and recycle CFC and HCFC refrigerants (or successful completion of such certification within 6 months of entering this position)
• Vocational training or equivalent experience (2 years)
• Certifications in the various disciplines required to maintain the equipment
• Must possess a valid driver’s license

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must possess the necessary physical stamina for walking/standing/working for extended periods (up to 12 hours),
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively
• Good body mobility with good range of motion from floor level to overhead
• Able to work outdoors in varying and inclement weather conditions
• Work will include significant amounts of bending, stretching, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and lifting on a daily basis
• Must possess the ability to use hand and power tools
• Must possess normal vision, hearing and sense of smell
• Some night and weekend work will be necessary. Emergency call back may be required.
