HVAC Data Center Branch Service Manager

Johnson Controls Inc. is looking for forward-thinking talent to join our growing organization to support the fast-growing Data Center market. You will be part of a new centralized team supporting Data Center customers in North America.

At Johnson Controls you’ll have the opportunity to lead a North America HVAC Service Operations team who will commission and service some of the most exciting and relevant facility HVAC chiller and commercial products in today’s market. The HVAC Branch Service Manager is part of our Buildings Solutions, North America business at Johnson Controls and this team will support all North America. Will oversee a team of 20 DFL Service Mechanics as well as an operations program manager.

Under the direction of the Director of the aftermarket chiller support team, the HVAC Branch Service Manager implements the growth strategy and owns the day-to-day service business processes and team management to ensure customer satisfaction and financial objectives are met. This includes implementation and adherence to business processes and service applications. Drives proficiency and performance of branch support staff.

How you will do it

  • Owns the day-to-day tactical local service business. Achieves through management of the defined business processes that are proven to deliver high customer satisfaction and positive business results.

  • With the assigned team the Branch Service Manager will coordinate with BSNA region Branch Managers or Truck Based Service managers the use of DFL mechanic manpower for Data Center startup/commissioning, warranty, and planned maintenance work.

  • Works with assigned Operations program manager, warranty coordinators and other admin to ensure financial objectives are met through accurately forecasting, analyzing, and driving the business processes of all lines of service business.

  • Direct supervision of service operations program manager responsible for safety, customer account management support, asset management, invoicing, service order posting, etc. 

  • Develops career pathing and training schedules for the DFL mechanic team to keep them functional and successful. 

  • Provides coaching and support to the assigned service team in managing the day-to-day business processes through implementation of business best practices and service applications. Responds to indicators of problems with training, resources, and ideas with mitigate problems.

  • Drives service business processes and applications through the local service organization and is the subject matter expert during actualization. Ensures training, communication, measures and reinforcement of processes and service applications.

  • Implements and maintains delivery standards consistent with BSNA objectives for sustainable, profitable growth through effective execution of work.

  • Performs other duties as related to customer satisfaction, actualization of strategies within the service organization, development and maintenance of service team business plans, and account management of service customers.

What we look for
Required

  • Minimum of 5 years of HVAC service industry experience managing service operations. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record leading the HVAC service business, delivering results, and leading other managers and technicians.  The ideal candidate also has strong communication and customer relationship skills. 

  • Must have the ability to simultaneously handle a large and diverse number of tasks and issues with tact, cooperation, and persistence. 

  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform work independently and demonstrate solid organizational and attention to detail skills. 

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external clients.

  • Able to prioritize work activities based upon financial impact to desired business goals. 

  • Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Experience and/or basic project accounting or costing principals. 

  • Able to positively represent Johnson Controls and communicate with others at varying levels. Able to influence diverse teams to accomplish tasks/goals. 

  • Able to use Service Management software and financial accounting systems.
