Job Description - HVAC Sales Engineer

ModernControls is a leading provider of HVAC and building automation services for commercial facilities across Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. and New Jersey. With over 220 employees, and a fleet of over 150 service vehicles, our team of experts install, maintain, and design Building Automation and HVAC systems designed to help facility managers control building environments and operating costs.

ModernControls is seeking an eager and hard-working professional to join our team as a HVAC Project Salesperson on the Sales Team. As an HVAC Project Salesperson, you will help develop new business opportunities in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey markets, maintain existing client relationships, and drive sales for HVAC service projects. This role involves identifying customer needs, proposing solutions, and closing sales to meet company revenue goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC systems, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in sales. This position is full time with a generous base salary + commission structure. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned:

o Work effectively in a team selling environment. Culture is everything!

o Travel within sales territory to meet new and existing customers in the commercial/industrial facility space.

o Make outbound calls and in-person visits to conduct site surveys to draft proposals. 

o Prospect, cold-call and network to develop leads and sales opportunities.

o Negotiate price and terms of maintenance contracts with decision-makers to close the sale.

o Ability to take off HVAC drawings for scope development.

o Ability to field design scopes based off of site information, customer input and industry knowledge.

o Coordinate project scopes with subcontracts of other trades.

o Build and maintain strong and successful relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.

o Conduct price estimates and quotations for projects and preventative maintenance contracts (with help from your team).

o Maintain records of all sales leads and/or customer accounts in CRM database.

o Collaborate with other business units within the company for cross-selling opportunities.

o Follow-up on sales leads and lists generated by management and others.

o Participate in opportunities to advance the company’s interests and personal interests including training, business development meetings, and networking associations.

o Achieve sales and gross margin goals while providing customers with superior value and service.

Requirements

  

High School or GED

Experience in Industrial/Commercial HVAC/Building Automation

Efficient in Microsoft Products 

Valid driver’s license and in good standing 

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills 

Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and balance several customers/projects at a time

Thrive in a team environment

Knowledge of HVAC mechanical systems and their operation
