Hybris Development Lead

Your new role and environment.

As a Hybris Development Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the evolution of our grocery eCommerce platform, currently running across five European markets.

You will lead a mixed team of backend and frontend engineers, while remaining strongly hands-on in SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) development. This role combines technical leadership, architectural thinking, and active contribution to code, ensuring high-quality delivery of critical eCommerce capabilities.

Key responsibilities of your role.

• Lead and guide a cross-functional team of backend and frontend developers (internal and vendor)


• Actively contribute to development with a strong hands-on focus on Java and SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris)


• Work with core Spring modules, including Spring Core, Spring Integration, and Spring Security


• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Solution Architects to align delivery with product and business goals


• Break down complex technical challenges into clear, manageable work packages


• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including Technical Design Documents (TDDs)


• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices


• Drive continuous improvement of development standards, tooling, and engineering practices


• Foster a culture of learning, technical excellence, and ownership within the team

Requirements.

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you can meet the following requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field


• Proven experience leading software development teams, ideally within eCommerce or consumer-facing platforms


• Strong, hands-on expertise with SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) and its core modules


• Solid Java background with deep understanding of Spring frameworks


• Ability to understand, review, and guide frontend development (React, GraphQL), even if backend-focused


• Experience working in Agile delivery environments


• Strong planning and organizational skills in complex, fast-paced settings


• Experience producing low-level technical documentation and conducting thorough code reviews


• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions and geographies


• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making capabilities

Nice to have requirements:

• Experience with cloud environments, especially AWS


• Exposure to SAFe agile methodology


• Experience working in multi-brand or white-label platforms
