Job Description - I&C Engineer

LotusWorks is an Engineering Services provider specializing in managing Commissioning, Construction Services, Calibration, Operations & Maintenance scopes of work within global manufacturing facilities. As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of complex mechanical and process systems during the construction and commissioning phases of a mission-critical automotive manufacturing facility. You’ll work closely with project stakeholders, including trade partners, superintendents, commissioning agents, and QA/QC teams, to validate system installations, witness critical pressure testing, and ensure field activities align with project specifications.


Responsibilities:



  • Review P&IDs, layout drawings, and permits for mechanical and controls systems.

  • Lead pre-install and closeout quality meetings with trade partners.

  • Perform system walkdowns to verify installation compliance with specs.

  • Witness and document pressure testing; ensure test documentation accuracy.

  • Identify deficiencies and log field observations using Procore and internal tools.

  • Support commissioning team with mechanical quality-related tasks.

  • Provide tool support and quality system training to subcontractors.

  • Participate in weekly quality meetings and site safety programs.

  • Maintain detailed inspection logs, reports, and communication with teams.

  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. 


Skills Required:



  • A solid understanding of instrumentation system used in process environments, including installation, calibration, signal verification, and integration with control systems (PLCs, DCS, etc.). 

  • Ability to interpret and apply P&IDs, system schematics, and layout drawings in the field. Ensure system components are installed in accordance with engineering design and applicable codes.

  • Experience conducting inspections, documenting deficiencies, and participating in quality management processes using platforms such as Procore and Airtable. Strong understanding of field verification procedures and documentation standards.

  • Hands-on knowledge of pressure testing, flushing, and system startup procedures. Able to validate that mechanical systems meet test parameters and respond appropriately to test failures or system anomalies. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across trades, commissioning agents, project management, and client representatives. Capable of leading meetings, delivering technical feedback, and influencing best practices.


Education / Licenses / Certifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical discipline is preferred but not required. 

  • OSHA 10 required

  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
