Job Description - ICD Psychiatric Medical Assistant

Community Youth Services is recruiting for Psychiatric Medical Assistant to work at the Thurston County Office. This position provides Medical Assistant and administrative support to the Integrated Counseling Division (ICD) by providing whole person care to youth and young adults in a team-based setting. ICD provides intensive outpatient wraparound services, including psychiatric services and medication management, to youth and young adults from various backgrounds, including houselessness, foster care, and youth involved in the juvenile justice system. This position will support the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in providing medication services to participants in ICD programs as well as supporting the PMHNP in administrative duties. 



Starting pay is 34.75 to $38.81 per hour DOE.  (Non-exempt) (Fulltime).

Our 20+ programs help youth with: housing, placement stabilization, family preservation, foster care, education, job training, employment, independent living skills, delinquent behaviors, shelter, and basic needs. About 4,000 youth – and their families – seek services annually in their transition to become independent, successful adult members of society.

Qualifications Summary



  • High school diploma or GED; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

  • Washington State Medical Assistant license and current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Experience using EMR/EHR systems and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams

  • Preferred two years of Medical Assistant experience

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including LGBTQIA2+ and BIPOC youth

  • Experience with medical billing, coding, documentation, and telehealth preparation

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and state regulations

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple administrative and clinical tasks



Responsibilities Summary



  • Support psychiatric services through scheduling, coordination of referrals, and communication across the care team

  • Obtain and document vital signs, assist with point‑of‑care testing, and support diagnostic and therapeutic procedures

  • Coordinate lab orders, track and document results, and assist with medication‑related tasks under provider direction

  • Prepare and maintain exam, session, and telehealth rooms; monitor and restock supplies

  • Participate in wraparound meetings and case staffings to support client needs

  • Provide basic patient education and support client access to services, including community‑based engagement

  • Conduct basic screening and triage for urgent or emergent concerns, escalating appropriately

  • Assist with prior authorizations, care transitions, releases of information, and connections to external providers

  • Collaborate closely with the PMHNP/ARNP, treatment team, administrative staff, and primary care partners
