ICM Shop Service Technician

Job Purpose

Shop Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of various types of heavy machinery. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as PM Services, filter replacements, tire checks, and fluid checks.
• Replacing faulty components, including engines, transmissions, and hydraulic lines / cylinders.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers.
• Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot complex machinery malfunctions.
• Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, turbos, and undercarriage components.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly.
• Reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics in SIS to support repair work.
• Provide technical advice and support to other technicians on proper equipment repair and maintenance.
• Follow safety protocols and learn the importance of maintaining safe working conditions.
• Ensure that equipment is operating according to manufacture standards.
• Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and services performed on equipment to correctly write service reports.
• Attend all hands-on training and attend relevant technical classes to further develop your skills & knowledge.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Team Leader or Supervisor to support the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical education in heavy equipment repair is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• At least 5-6 years of Caterpillar experience repairing machines.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar software and programs a plus.
