$21.94 hourly.  Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.  Central Area/Cocoa/Agricultural Center/Travels Countywide.  Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Performs experienced paraprofessional work assisting the University of Florida/IFAS faculty with marketing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the 4-H Youth Program.  Work involves recruiting, coordinating, and assisting with training volunteers to lead 4-H Clubs: developing, teaching, and evaluating programs and classes in various subject areas designed primarily for youth, including poultry, horses, swine, cows and other livestock; gardening; shooting sports, archery and safety; dog training and responsible dog ownership; insect identification, anatomy and physiology; camping, hunting and other outdoor skills; and farming and agriculture; working with community partners and cultivating relationships in order to provide additional programming opportunities and support; ensuring financial transactions, including payments for 4-H events, travel reimbursements, and donations, are accounted for and meet University of Florida and Brevard County Board of County Commissioner requirements; and representing Brevard County at statewide 4-H events, including leading, supporting and teaching.  


 


REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor's degree in Family & Consumer Sciences, Organizational Management, Education, Recreation, Agriculture, Horticulture, Biology, or a field closely related to the program assignment; OR two (2) years of college coursework PLUS two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a field closely related to family & consumer sciences, organizational management, education, recreation, agriculture, horticulture, and/or biology.  Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.  Experience coordinating volunteer programs is preferred.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.  Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays and occasional overnight work as required.  The applicant will be disqualified from further consideration if a Level 1 criminal background investigation, performed in accordance with Brevard County Administrative Order 5 (AO-5), discloses the applicant has disqualifying convictions (as defined by AO-5).  In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
