Special Education Teacher | Self-Contained Classroom

Our Organization is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher for a full-time position in an Illinois school district. This role involves leading a self-contained classroom of approximately 10 students, primarily with autism and varying levels of support needs.

The selected educator will provide individualized instruction based on students’ abilities, learning needs, and educational goals while maintaining a structured, supportive classroom environment. The position follows a school-day schedule of 8:30 AM to 3:40 PM and offers an opportunity to promote student development through tailored teaching strategies, consistent routines, and positive behavioral support.

Role Overview:

Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation.

Implement positive behavioral and classroom management strategies.

Participate in IEP meetings and support the development of student goals.

Lead and manage a self-contained classroom of approximately 10 students.

Support students with autism, including those with significant support needs.

Provide individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs and learning goals.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field and an active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Special Education endorsement. Applicants should demonstrate strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Experience working with students with autism, significant support needs, or in a self-contained classroom is preferred.
