Mission Community Hospital is seeking an experienced Full-Time MRI Technologist to join our acute care hospital team in Panorama City, California. This role requires operating a high-field GE MRI scanner housed inside an on-site mobile MRI trailer.
As a vital member of our inpatient imaging team, you will perform diagnostic MR procedures on emergency, inpatient, and outpatient populations. Because the equipment is located in a mobile environment, you must demonstrate a strong command of MRI safety protocols, independent clinical judgment, and excellent problem-solving skills to manage the workflow between the main hospital building and the mobile trailer. In addition to clinical duties, you will play a key role in staff training, onboarding, emergency preparedness (including regular crash cart monitoring), and leading ACR accreditation maintenance and protocol adherence for the mobile unit.
** Clinical Imaging & ACR Protocol Adherence: ** Perform high-quality routine and advanced MRI procedures using a GE MRI platform. Ensure all clinical scans strictly adhere to ACR-accredited imaging protocols, parameter guidelines, and position standards.
** Emergency Preparedness & Crash Cart Compliance: ** Perform, verify, and log mandatory daily/shift checks on the designated MRI-safe crash cart and emergency response equipment. Ensure the integrity of plastic security seals, verify expiration dates on emergency medications/defibrillator pads, and document oxygen tank levels. Actively participate in routine mock-code training and trailer evacuation drills.
** ACR Certification Maintenance: ** Oversee the technical requirements for ongoing ACR accreditation of the mobile scanner. Lead the collection, formatting, and submission of clinical and phantom images required for ACR renewal and quality assurance audits.
** Quality Control (QC) Tracking: ** Perform and document daily, weekly, and monthly ACR-mandated quality control tests (including phantom scans for spatial resolution, contrast detectability, and signal-to-noise ratios). Troubleshoot and report any QC failures immediately to the medical physicist and service engineers.
** Mobile Environment Management: ** Manage the specialized operational logistics of an MRI trailer, including safely transporting patients across the transitional ramp, monitoring environmental controls (HVAC, chiller status), and reporting mechanical variations immediately.
** Acute Care Response: ** Confidently manage high-acuity patients, including trauma and ICU cases. Coordinate safely with nursing staff to transition monitoring equipment to MRI-conditional equivalents.
** On-Call & After-Hours Coverage: ** Participate in a mandatory after-hours on-call schedule and weekend rotations to support emergency and urgent hospital needs. Must respond and arrive at the hospital within the designated acute-care response window when called in.
** Training & Onboarding Responsibilities: ** Lead the clinical training and orientation of new hire technologists, cross-training staff, and registry personnel. Ensure all staff are fully trained on GE software applications, ACR protocol selection, trailer workflow logistics, and specialized emergency response evacuation routes from the mobile unit.
** Strict MRI Safety Screening & Education: ** Execute rigorous Level 2 MRI Safety screening protocols for patients, hospital staff, and visitors prior to trailer entry. Maintain a secure Zone III and Zone IV perimeter inside the mobile unit in compliance with ACR Guidance Document for Safe MR Practices.
** Contrast & IV Administration: ** Establish IV access and safely administer gadolinium-based contrast agents under the direction of a M.D.
DEMONSTRATES THE ABILITY TO SAFELY AND COMPETENTLY USE EQUIPMENT IN THE PROVISION OF DEPARTMENT SERVICES PER SCOPE OF PRACTICE:
1. Obtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use
2. Assures equipment is in operating order prior to use
3. Uses the equipment in accordance with manufacturer's operating instructions.
