Job Description - Import / Export Specialist

The Import / Export Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing international shipments in compliance with all applicable import and export regulations. This role ensures accurate documentation, timely customs clearance, cost-effective transportation, and adherence to trade compliance requirements to support uninterrupted global supply chain operations.

Responsibilities:

· Prepare, review, and submit import/export documents (customs invoices, certificates of origin, etc.)

· Manage and oversee import and export of goods.

· Ensure accurate product classification (HTS codes), country of origin determination, and valuation

· Ensure adherence to domestic and international customs laws, tariffs, and trade regulations, monitor changes.

· Coordinate customs clearance with brokers. 

· Monitor shipment status and resolve delays, holds, or discrepancies

· File Electronic Export Information (EEI) via AES when required 

· Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Finance, and external partners

· Back-office support for Sales Management for preparation of Sales Quotation 

· Process Purchase Orders from customers for capital equipment.


Requirements

· 3+ years of experience in import/export operations or trade compliance

· Strong understanding of international trade laws, customs procedures, HS codes, and tariff systems

· Strong knowledge of U.S. import and export regulations

· Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders

· Order management experience a plus

· Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel

· Problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple cases. 

· Familiarity with international trade software.

· Experience with Incoterms 2020

· Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
