What You'll Do:
In the In-Kind Donations Specialist role, you’ll focus on the objectives of Interfaith, In-Kind donations program including pantry duties, warehouse operations, fresh food rescue, donation drives, pickup of household items and furniture donations, and client move ins. It includes relationship development with clients, donors, partners, staff, and vendors to continue to grow the program’s effectiveness.
- Ensures pantry operations run smoothly by maintaining inventory in all sections.
- Sack lunch registration and maintains calendar up to date and puts away product.
- Helps Coordinate in kind donation procurement and utilization throughout the agency.
- Fields all inquiries from potential donors, partners, and staff relating to all components of the In-Kind donations program.
- Screens all incoming donations accepting or denying goods based on agency guidelines, needs, and storage capabilities.
- Monitors all daily, bi-weekly, and monthly fresh food rescues.
- Develops and maintains relationships with In Kind donation program partners.
- Creates and updates electronic inventory for warehouse.
- Communicates warehouse inventories to collaborative teams.
- Coordinates the transport and distribution of goods to agency programs as determined or per request.
- Ensures all incoming donations are reported, inventoried, stored properly and safely until goods are ready for use
- Addresses warehouse activities and operations ensuring all facilities are kept clean, organized, stocked, inventoried, and goods are accessible.
- Cross-trains staff and volunteers in related warehouse activities and operations.
- Recruits, orients, and delegates assignments to volunteers.
- Understands and ensures staff and volunteer compliance with OSHA workplace health and safety standards as well as agency policies and procedures.
- Operates all tools, equipment, and vehicles at the highest level of OSHA standards, safety, and mechanical guidelines/processes. Immediately address any concerns and malfunctions. Ensures staff and volunteers comply to operation standards and immediately reports any concerns and/or malfunctions.
- Collaborates to create and update In Kind donations program policies and procedures guide.
- Successfully communicates ongoing goals, schedules, modifications, challenges, successes, and policies, and procedures to volunteers.
- Enters daily In-Kind donations program data and activities in Raiser’s Edge, Feeding San Diego, and other software applications for immediate and scheduled data reporting.
- Updates agency’s Needs List for food, hygiene, household, furniture, and miscellaneous items, and ensures posting on social media and access by staff.
- Effectively communicates/markets In Kind donations program needs and activities, working closely with Development staff.
- Assists staff during the set-up, operations, and break-down of special events including donation drives.
- Represents Interfaith Community Services at the highest level of integrity at all times.
- Performs additional duties as assigned
Requirements

- High School Diploma or equivalent experience, required
- 1+ years of experience driving a box truck
- 1+ years of experience overseeing a warehouse and inventory
- 1+ years of experience working in a warehouse or nonprofit setting with a high-level of effective customer service skills and interactions
- 1+ years of experience successfully overseeing volunteers

- Knowledge of Windows operating systems as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint), website databases (such as Raiser’ Edge; Feeding San Diego), and proficient utilizing web-based applications and researching Internet information.
- Possess leadership and delegation skills including wisdom, cooperation, and initiative to accomplish assignments successfully through appropriate resource allocation, innovation, and sound judgment.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform work in outdoor and warehouse settings.
- Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time in a vehicle, stand, walk, bend, kneel and use hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance on a frequent basis.
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance objects weighing over 50 lbs., minimum.
- May be subjected to adverse conditions, including contact from hostile people.
- Strength to pull and push such objects as file drawers, computers, and similar office equipment and supplies.
- Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration, and analytical thinking.
- Required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.
- Must be able to hear, see (including distinction of colors), read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and origins.
- Exposure to contagious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, tuberculous, etc.).
- Exposure of unpleasant and noxious fumes, odors, dust, temperatures, noise and inclement weather.
Location: Onsite/Escondido
Hourly Rate: $24.00-$26.00
Hours: Monday-Friday: 8 am-5 pm
