Job Description - Inclusion & Belonging Coordinator

Position Summary 

The Inclusion & Belonging Coordinator will partner with faculty, staff, students, and parents to cultivate a unified vision for the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion work as essential to educational excellence. The Coordinator will support the school’s internal work and partner closely with the SEL team, particularly in its efforts to support students, faculty, and staff.
 

Responsibilities 

· Work with the Associate Director of Student Support Services and the Senior Leadership Team to implement best practices for optimizing marketing, hiring practices, and support to recruit and retain diverse faculty and staff. 

· Support internal inclusion and belonging practices to align with the goals and priorities of the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.

· Act as liaison between the school and the Home and School Association, including attending HSA officer meetings and supporting HSA events. 

· Prioritize active listening, open communication, and collaboration among all Avery Coonley community members and work to celebrate our diverse, inclusive, and supportive community where all students are known and valued in both their strengths and challenges.

· Partner with faculty to nurture an atmosphere of professional growth and unwavering support within a vibrant and caring community regarding issues of inclusion and belonging.

· Plan, develop, and market events and professional development focused on inclusion and belonging for faculty, staff, students, and families.

Requirements

  

Qualifications 

· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited institution. Advanced degree preferred

· Five or more years of experience in a school or youth-serving nonprofit setting

· Proven record of success in working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and families

· Deep working knowledge of current research, trends, and practice in diversity, equity, and inclusion and experience with curriculum review and design

· Familiarity with independent schools.

· Approachable and collaborative, possess effective communication and problem-solving skills 

· Excellent writing and communication skills 

· Excellent listening skills – able to listen to students and parents, understand and quickly respond effectively to their requests 

· “Can do” attitude and ability to work as part of a team 

· Willingness to develop differentiated learning experiences 

· Ability to receive feedback and engage in continuous self-improvement 

· Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing work environment 

· Ability to build positive relationships with all important constituencies 

· Ability to work collaboratively and across teams, departments, and divisions 

   Firm belief in personal accountability, producing measurable outcomes, and sustaining high expectations

Salary/Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, starting at 60K

This position is available 2025-26 School Year.  This is a 10-month exempt contract, renewable annually.
