Job Description - Indigenous Engagement Manager


The Opportunity – Help build places people love to live.


Play a key role in shaping meaningful partnerships with First Nations communities across Victoria. This is an opportunity to lead culturally grounded engagement that delivers real impact across our projects, places and communities.


 


We’re Looking For ...


An Indigenous Engagement Manager to lead and embed First Nations engagement, reconciliation and inclusion outcomes across our Victorian projects and operations.


You will be based in our Melbourne Head Office 3 days per week in Wurundjeri Country, reporting to the Stockland National Indigenous Engagement Manager within our Sustainability and Delivery business.


 


What You’ll Do
•Lead the delivery and implementation of Indigenous Engagement programs and initiatives aligned to our First Nations Strategy, Stretch RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) and 2030 Sustainability Strategy
• Build and manage trusted, respectful relationships with Traditional Owner groups, relevant Registered Aboriginal Parties and key community stakeholders across Victoria
• Partner with Development and Project teams to embed Indigenous Engagement Plans across projects and assets
• Drive outcomes across cultural learning activities and drive, procurement and employment pathways for First Nations communities
• Support and deliver key events and initiatives including National Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, Indigenous Business Month and other First Nations days of significance
• Act as a trusted advisor to the business, enabling culturally informed decision making and strengthening engagement capability

You are an innovative thinker and good and solving problems. You thrive in complex stakeholder environments and are motivated by creating meaningful, lasting impact.


 


Experience & Skills That Count



  • Demonstrated experience partnering with First Nations communities, organisations and stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and current issues, challenges and opportunities

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous affairs across Victoria including state legislation pertaining to cultural heritage and Social Procurement Victoria

  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with Traditional Owner groups and navigate culturally sensitive environments

  • Experience delivering First Nations initiatives across community engagement, employment or procurement pathways

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including negotiating, community consultation, public speaking and facilitation

  • Experience working within infrastructure, development or large scale project environments is advantageous

  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational hands on delivery across multiple initiatives
