Role

Responsible for organizing, planning, and directing the company’s indirect loan functions to maximize profits and growth. This position establishes and implements departmental lending policies and operational procedures consistent with overall company management policies. Exercises usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations. Approves and declines loan applications that exceed the loan limits of indirect lenders. Develops new business and expands existing indirect relationships.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

· Serves in an outside sales function as the main liaison with dealerships to create profitable relationships. Markets the indirect loan programs to the Branch network, auto dealer base, and home improvement brokers.

· Manages Indirect Lending staff members and ensures a competent, motivated staff through hiring, training, counseling, supervising, and reviewing performance of all direct reports. Ensures department goals are attained.

· Establishes Dealer Rules of Engagement to ensure dealer transactions are of sound quality for the members (i.e. no rebuilt titles, no lemon resells, vehicles being sold are in good condition, etc.).

· Oversees to the development of the interest rate structure, indirect lending programs,and budgets which are competitive and maximize profitability.

· Underwrites indirect loans, which meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the company with a minimum of risk. Approve, decline, or counter offer loan applications within set lending authority. Ensures compliance with company standards and practices and State and Federal regulations. Accepts dealer loan applications from various sources, such as fax, internal, etc., being utilized from the dealers. Evaluates loan applications utilizing the organization’s lending matrix. Makes sound lending decisions based upon underwriting and documentation requirements.

· Oversee contract processing, funding, and dealer communication while analyzing market trends and competitor offerings to ensure timely funding, exceptional service, and a competitive edge

· Provide regular reporting to management on loan performance, team productivity, andstrategic initiatives.

· Other duties as assigned by manager

Knowledge and Skills

EXPERIENCE

· Minimum of 3 - 5 years of successful lending experience required. Proven sales and consulting experience required. Must be familiar with all lending policies with knowledge of real estate and collections policies. Previous management experience.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

· Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (or Equivalent work experience)

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

· A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.

OTHER SKILLS

· Must have knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations that affect Indirect and Consumer loans is required. Must also have outstanding MicroSoft Office skills including preparing spreadsheets and reports.

· Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment while achieving established goals. Above average communication skills required and ability to present to groups at all levels.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

MENTAL AND/OR EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
