Hourly Rate: $38 -$42

 

As an Industrial Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems within industrial settings, particularly in environments involving chemicals and manufacturing processes. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and instrumentation equipment to minimize downtime, ensure safety, and optimize production processes.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Identify and address electrical and instrumentation challenges methodically, employing root cause analysis and troubleshooting methods. Efficiently resolve intricate issues to reduce downtime and mitigate production losses.
  • Create and execute preventive maintenance timetables for electrical and instrumentation systems, guaranteeing peak performance and dependability. Carry out routine inspections, lubrication, and component replacements in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Recognize chances to enhance energy efficiency and lower utility expenses within electrical and instrumentation systems. Propose and enact strategies like equipment upgrades, fine-tuning control algorithms, or integrating energy-saving devices to achieve this goal.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) including identifying faulty components, diagnosing communication errors, and debugging ladder logic programs.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial machinery, equipment, and control systems, including motors, switches, relays, and sensors.
  • Conduct calibration of instrumentation devices such as pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, level indicators, and analytical instruments.
  • Verify proper wiring connections, signal continuity, and instrument response within control systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on instrumentation equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy of measurement and control processes.
  • Clean, lubricate, and inspect sensors, transmitters, valves, and actuators to prevent fouling, corrosion, or mechanical failures.

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation systems. Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, motor controls, and process instrumentation highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

 

  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, wiring practices, and safety standards (e.g., NEC).
  • Familiarity with instrumentation devices such as pressure transmitters, flow meters, temperature sensors, etc.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools, meters, and testing equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial control systems.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to effectively communicate technical information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to diagnose complex issues in electrical and instrumentation systems and implement effective solutions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Willingness to share knowledge and support colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work in a dynamic industrial environment with changing priorities and deadlines. Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.

 

candidates must meet the following:

  • Verification of qualifications and abilities will be determined through an appropriate written assessment and hands-on skill testing
  • Must be able to wear a respirator
  • Must be able to repeatedly climb and descend stairs/ladders of up to eight stories
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts that include weekends
