Job Description - Industrial Electrical Technician

Overview

We are seeking an Industrial Electrician to join our team in a clean, modern, and highly automated manufacturing environment. This is a pure industrial electrical role focused entirely on the sophisticated technology that drives our facility, including state-of-the-art automation, motor controls, and robotics.

Whether you have a year or two of factory experience or you are a junior candidate fresh out of trade school, this is a fantastic place to start your career, learn, and grow alongside veteran technicians. Please note that because of the highly specialized nature of our equipment, residential or commercial electrical backgrounds are not a fit for this position; you must have an industrial background or an industrial-focused technical education.

Operating within our cutting-edge facility, this role offers an exceptional and highly predictable schedule: you will work just 3.5 night shifts per week, leaving you with 3.5 days to yourself to recharge or study.

Compensation

  • $22 - $29 / hr

Shift

  • Evening shift
  • 3 days / week from 6:00pm - 6:00am
  • 1 day / week from 6:00pm - 12:00am

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostics & Troubleshooting – Safely use multimeters and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot, repair, and document electrical malfunctions across automated machinery, robotics, and control panels.
  • Equipment Maintenance & Calibration – Install, repair, and maintain high- and low-voltage systems, 3-phase motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), input devices, sensors, photoeyes, and thermocouples. Assist in calibrating computer-controlled machinery.
  • Electrical Installation – Run conduit, pull wire, terminate cables, and wire industrial control panels according to factory standards and electrical codes.
  • Technical Documentation – Read and accurately interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals. Utilize computer systems (CMMS) to access, manage, and document work orders.
  • Safety & Compliance – Follow and actively promote safe work practices—including strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash safety—maintaining absolute compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC) and facility safety policies.
  • Continuous Learning & Collaboration – Eagerly learn from senior technicians and engineers to grow your industrial skill set. Collaborate closely with machine operators, supervisors, and cross-functional team members to resolve electrical issues swiftly.

Qualifications

Required

  • Education: High School diploma or GED/HiSET.
  • Industry Experience: Junior-level candidates and recent graduates are extremely welcome! Any prior working experience must be in an industrial, manufacturing, or factory setting (residential/commercial experience will not be considered).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational grasp of industrial electrical and electronic principles, industrial controls, and basic automation concepts.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment and a strong desire to develop complex troubleshooting skills.
  • Systems & Standards: Basic proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints, with an introductory understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

Preferred

  • Certification from a trade school, community college (e.g., Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Electrical Technology), or a completed industrial apprenticeship.

Competencies

  • Technical Curiosity: A strong drive to learn about PLCs, robotics, automation, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: A logical approach to diagnosing equipment issues and a willingness to ask questions to get to the root cause.
  • Safety Awareness: Unwavering commitment to safe work practices, electrical safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication with all levels of staff.
  • Teamwork: Works effectively with cross-functional teams and is open to training and guidance from senior staff.
  • Adaptability: Capable of adjusting to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment.
