We’re looking for an experienced Electrician to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining and improving our in-house machinery, electrical systems, and production equipment.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrician to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in an industrial or manufacturing setting. This role involves not only troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems but also contributing to the installation and improvement of custom-built machines. You’ll work closely with our engineering team to ensure all electrical systems are functional, safe, and compliant with relevant regulations.
Position Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, production equipment, and electrical panels.
Troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, identify root causes, and perform necessary repairs.
Work with engineers to design electrical layouts and components for new machines and systems.
Collaborate with the team to build, test, and commission new machinery, ensuring electrical systems are functioning properly.
Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to reduce downtime and extend the life of machines.
Ensure all electrical installations and repairs comply with local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC).
Maintain accurate records of all work, including repairs, installations, and inspections.
Work from blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to plan and execute electrical installations.
Collaborate with the maintenance and production teams to address any issues that arise during daily operations.
Assist in the training of junior electricians or other team members as needed.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and troubleshooting in an industrial environment.
Experience with electrical control systems, PLCs, VFDs, and motor controls.
Skilled in interpreting and working from technical documents, including blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Ability to design, install, and troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems for custom machinery.
Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues with machinery and production systems.
Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems.
Understanding of power distribution systems, including transformers, circuit breakers, and panels.
Knowledge of electrical safety codes (NEC, OSHA) and best practices for industrial environments.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically when diagnosing complex issues.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or an associate degree in electrical engineering or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an electrician in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
Hands-on experience with custom-built machinery and electrical systems is a plus.
Valid Maryland journeyman or master electrician license is preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights as required.
