ABOUT THIS ROLE The Industrial Estimator serves as a critical link between our Customers, Sales Teams, and Production by translating customer requirements into accurate cost estimates, item setups, and labeling solutions. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining item master data, estimating product costs, and developing compliant labels and label templates for use across the organization. The position plays a key role in ensuring new and existing products are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with customer and regulatory requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Estimating & Costing Responsibilities
Develop accurate cost estimates for customer-specific and standard products, including material, labor, overhead, and labeling requirements.
Analyze drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to determine the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing approach.
Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to support quoting activities and respond to technical cost-related inquiries.
Item Creation & ERP Management
Create, maintain, and update item masters, bills of materials (BOMs), routers, and catalogs within the Oracle ERP system.
Establish new items and configurations based on customer requirements, engineering data, and manufacturing capabilities.
Ensure accuracy and consistency of item data to support production planning, purchasing, and quality requirements.
Labeling & Compliance
Utilize labeling software to create, modify, and maintain product labels.
Develop and manage standardized and customer-specific label templates for production and distribution use.
Ensure labels meet customer specifications, regulatory standards, and internal quality system requirements.
Coordinate labeling requirements with Quality, Production, and Shipping to ensure proper implementation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Purchasing, and Sales teams to ensure products and labels are manufacturable and compliant.
Provide technical support related to product design, item setup, and labeling issues that could impact cost, quality, or delivery.
Act as a liaison when changes to customer requirements affect item setup, labeling, or cost structure.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, item setup efficiency, and labeling standardization.
Follow departmental procedures and work instructions; recommend updates or improvements as necessary.
Report data discrepancies, process gaps, or risks to the applicable supervisor.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with Sealing Devices’ Quality System, safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the Estimating function.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Qualifications & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred.
2–5 years of experience in estimating, manufacturing support, or a related industrial role preferred.
Technical Skills & Competencies
Proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle preferred), including item master, BOM, and routing maintenance.
Experience with industrial labeling software, including label design and template management.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost drivers.
Ability to interpret customer drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment.
Requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus when reviewing shipment documentation, system data, and customs paperwork.
Must be able to hear and communicate clearly for phone conversations, video calls, and in-person collaboration.
Occasional bending, reaching, or stooping may be required to access files, supplies, or materials.
Ability to travel periodically to supplier sites or carrier facilities as needed.
Ability to work in both office and production environments may involve moderate noise levels, temperature variation, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Salary ranges for this position are determined based upon the job location and can be adjusted based upon experience, reflecting our commitment to valuing the expertise and contributions of our individual team members. Salary for this role is $25 - $30 per hour based upon experience.
