Description of Work
This position is home based in the Charlotte area and will function as a member of a public health advisory group with unique responsibility for anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of environmental hazards to human health that are likely to arise in the event of a terrorist attack, disease outbreak or natural disaster. This will include but not limited to assisting local responders in assessment of cases and during incidents of potential biological, chemical or radiological agent to determine the agent, source, and potential for transmission or dissemination; participating in conducting environmental and human exposure assessment; coordination of environmental data gathering and sharing with the state and within the regions; develop and conduct educational programs to local health departments and partners on respiratory protection and personal protective equipment selection and use during COVID or other emerging pathogen incidents, assessment of airborne infection isolation rooms for use during COVID or other emerging pathogens incidents; decontamination techniques and biological sampling protocol; participate in emergency planning and coordination meetings; provide early assistance in the environmental investigation component of epidemiological investigations; coordinate and participate in exercises that test public health response plans.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $46.97 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Master's degree in industrial hygiene with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering, or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics, industrial hygiene, mechanical engineering, or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in industrial hygiene inspections; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
