Pekron Consulting, Inc., (Pekron) located in the greater Chicagoland area, is seeking an industrial hygiene (IH) Technician with 1-5 years of experience in the OSHA compliance and industrial hygiene field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred as well as an OSHA 30 hour in General and/or Construction Industry. Pekron is a national leader in providing EH&S consulting services and expertise to a diverse array of Fortune 500 clients. The job location will be in Northwest Indiana at one of Cleveland Cliff’s steel mills. As you develop, there will be opportunities for more diverse assignments and increased responsibilities.
Initial responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· It is preferred that the candidate have asbestos licenses in Indiana. Training will be provided to obtain asbestos professional licenses in the states of Indiana and Illinois;
· Performing industrial hygiene exposure assessments (i.e. noise, dust, asbestos, metals, etc.);
· Conducting asbestos inspections surveying suspect asbestos containing materials;
· Writing technical reports, and
· Interacting professionally with clients.
Candidates must:
· Have strong computer and communication (written and verbal) skills;
· Have the ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment and take direction from a Project Manager;
· Be well organized;
· Have consistent access to a dependable vehicle for travel to/from work;
· Be willing to learn and want to develop as a safety & health professional;
· Be flexible with schedules and hours worked during a work week (some night and weekend work is possible); and
· Be able to successfully work in various work environments.
Pekron offers professional development opportunities, inhouse training, and will provide training to obtain your IDPH and IDEM professional asbestos licenses. The salary range for this position is between $40-50k (depending on experience, certifications and licenses).
