Industrial Janitor

Description

The Industrial Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the facility and functionality of the building. They play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment within the facility. 

Candidate must effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of this position to consistently promote our Mission, Vision and Values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Balance Safety, Quality, Production, Cost and Morale to achieve positive results across departments. 
• Continuously learn, share and implement corrections or changes to encourage organizational improvements for the department and company. 
• Use the 5s Pillars, Sort (Seiri), Set in Order (Seiton), Shine (Seiso), Standardize (Seiketsu), and sustain (Shitsuke) to maintain a clean and organized workspace to sustain a productive work environment.  
• Coordinate and manage projects that require input and cooperation from multiple departments ensuring that clear and consistent communication between departments streamline processes and enhance productivity. 
• Work with other department heads to identify areas where collaboration can improve efficiency and innovation. 
• Mediate and resolve any conflicts that arise to maintain a harmonious work environment. 

Janitor Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building including but not limited to the front lobby, offices, and conference rooms.
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes.
• Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, locker rooms and breakroom.  
• Performs limited grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns and hedges and cleaning snow from sidewalks.       
• Maintains a neat and orderly janitors’ room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
• Washes windows.   
• Keeps inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reorders as necessary. 
• Identifies safety hazards, reports deficiencies to supervisor.
• Occasionally handle special cleaning projects, as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred.  
• At least one year of related experience is required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Detail-oriented and thorough.
• Ability to keep the facility clean and orderly.
• Ability to interact and effectively communicate with team members at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment Conditions:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to manipulate, handle and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to speak and hear and must occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds. 
• The employee may enter the non-climate-controlled plant or warehouse where temperatures can be extremely hot or cold depending on the weather.
