Position Summary:

The subject matter expert/SME will play a critical role in shaping high-quality, industry-relevant curriculum and ensuring standardization across campuses. This individual will collaborate closely with content developers, curriculum team, the Education Department, and the B2B division to create, enhance, and update instructional materials while supporting consistency in lab equipment and instructional delivery. The SME will also support new campus growth initiatives by assisting with program rollouts, start-up planning, and ensuring new locations are equipped with standardized curriculum, equipment, and instructional resources.

Responsibilities:

Course Development & Content Creation

o Partner with content developers to design and build courses specific to trade fields.

o Develop instructional materials that align with industry standards, licensing requirements, and best practices.

o Ensure content is engaging, accurate, and relevant for learners preparing for careers in the trades.

Content Ownership & Revision

o Collaborate with the B2B division and Education Department to systematically review and rewrite existing content, transitioning it into proprietary Stratatech-owned curriculum.

o Refresh and enhance courses to maintain relevance with evolving technologies, tools, and industry practices.

o Work with the B2B division to develop client-specific content as needed.

o Provide technical expertise and ensure accuracy in all revised content.

Curriculum Enhancement

o Work with curriculum teams to evaluate, update, and standardize program content.

o Identify, develop, and implement improvements to instructional design and course flow to optimize student success.

o Sit in on Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings, capture industry feedback, and integrate recommendations into courses to prepare graduates for industry standards.

o Participate in monthly curriculum meetings and collaborate with the curriculum team on course and content revisions as needed.

o Identify opportunities to integrate new technologies and industry advancements into courses.

Campus Support & Standardization

o Collaborate with campus teams to standardize lab equipment, tools, and supplies across all locations (new/start up and existing).

o Support faculty in implementing consistent, high-quality delivery of technical training.

o Provide guidance to ensure lab environments reflect real-world industry standards.

o Support new campus growth and program rollouts by assisting with facility readiness, equipment and consumables planning, lab layout recommendations, curriculum implementation, and faculty preparation to ensure a consistent student experience from launch.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

· Associate degree or higher in the applicable trade discipline or a closely related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education, industry experience, and technical expertise may be considered.

· Minimum of 5 years of recent industry experience in the applicable trade discipline.

· Previous teaching or instructor experience in a postsecondary, apprenticeship, corporate training, or workforce development environment strongly preferred.

· Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, revising, and implementing curriculum, instructional materials, assessments, and lab activities.

· Experience supporting curriculum standardization, program development, and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.

· Current industry certifications applicable to the discipline are required or preferred, as appropriate (e.g., Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or AWS certifications for Welding SMEs, EPA Section 608 for HVAC, NCCER credentials, Journeyman or Master-level license in the applicable trade, or other equivalent industry certifications).

· Experience supporting new program or campus start-ups, including curriculum implementation, lab readiness, equipment selection, or faculty onboarding, is preferred.

· Ability to travel to campuses as needed to support curriculum implementation, standardization, faculty development, and new campus/program launches.

Skills & Competencies

· Strong technical knowledge of trade practices, tools, and safety standards.

· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

· Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

· Familiarity with educational technology, digital learning platforms, and instructional design principles is a plus.

· Work can be performed in a variety of settings, from temperature-controlled office environments to outdoor areas exposed to the elements

· Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal

· Some work may be completed in classroom or shop environment
