The Industrial Superintendent is responsible for overseeing industrial piping and mechanical construction projects from planning through completion/commissioning. This role provides leadership and direction for Industrial Foremen, Pipe Fitters, Welders, Operators, and Laborers while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The Industrial Superintendent oversees daily industrial field operations including process piping, utility piping, equipment installation, welding activities, and mechanical system construction. This position serves as the primary field point of contact for industrial projects and is responsible for coordinating manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, scheduling, quality control, and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise Industrial Foremen, Pipe Fitters, Welders, Operators, and Laborers on industrial construction projects
Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project logistics to maintain production schedules
Oversee installation of process piping / utility piping systems (stainless steel, carbon steel, PVC, CPVC, DIP, etc.), valves / instrumentation, mechanical equipment, and pipe supports / racks
Read and interpret plans, elevations, sections, details, PFD’S, P&ID’S, ISO drawings, and mechanical and structural drawings
Ensure piping systems and equipment installations meet project specifications, tolerances, and quality standards
Coordinate work sequencing and scheduling with PM’s, Engineers, subcontractors, owners, and inspectors
Conduct and enforce daily JSAs, safety meetings, hot work procedures, confined space procedures, and company safety policies
Monitor field productivity, labor costs, project schedules, and quality performance
Perform routine QA/QC inspections to minimize rework and punch list items
Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and field coordination activities
Ensure materials, fabrication, and deliveries are coordinated and available for crews
Mentor and train Foremen and staff while promoting professional development and leadership growth
Maintain organized, clean, and safe work areas
Enforce company policies, attendance expectations, and professional conduct standards
Support shutdown work, emergency repairs, and schedule-driven industrial projects as required
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
8+ years of industrial construction or maintenance experience preferred
Previous experience as an Industrial Foreman or similar leadership role preferred
Strong understanding of process piping and utility piping systems, mechanical construction practices, welding operations, equipment installation, industrial project sequencing
Experience with stainless steel piping systems, carbon steel piping systems, valve and instrumentation installation, pipe rack installation
Experience working in industrial environments including food processing facilities, agricultural processing facilities, and water/wastewater treatment facilities
Ability to read and interpret prints and construction drawings, P&ID’s, ISO drawings, technical manuals, manufacturer installation instructions, weld symbols and weld procedures, and mechanical and structural drawings
Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, RP Constructors procedures, and industrial construction safety practices
Thorough knowledge of plans, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations
Strong leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with owners, subcontractors, inspectors, suppliers, and RP Constructors personnel
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-oriented mindset
Ability to work independently and manage multiple operations simultaneously
Knowledge of computer systems and software applications necessary to complete assigned duties
Valid driver’s license required
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in varied weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and access elevated work areas
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
Ability to navigate active industrial construction sites safely
Ability to work extended hours, weekends, shutdown schedules, and outage work as project demands require
