Futuristic Underwriters is a growth-focused Managing General Agent (MGA) building disciplined, industry-specific Property & Casualty capabilities nationwide. We operate as a direct-to-retail MGA writing on affiliated paper, allowing for speed, underwriting authority, and tighter alignment with retail partners.

We are building dedicated industry verticals with current E&S products and expansion into admitted capabilities over time, including:

The Role:

Futuristic Underwriters is hiring multiple Industry Managers to build and scale national vertical capabilities. Each Industry Manager owns profitable growth, underwriting discipline, and distribution alignment for their vertical.

This is a leadership role responsible for strengthening and scaling an established industry vertical through refined underwriting guardrails, focused distribution alignment in partnership with Sales, and dedicated underwriting team development. The role reports to the VP Commercial Property & Casualty and is expected to evolve into a dedicated vertical leadership structure as the organization scales.

Core Responsibilities:

Vertical Strategy & Growth

• Define and execute a national growth strategy for the assigned vertical
• Drive profitable E&S performance aligned with portfolio targets
• Monitor portfolio results and implement corrective underwriting actions as needed

Distribution Alignment

• Partner with Sales leadership to identify, prioritize, and appoint aligned retail agencies 
• Participate in key agency meetings to position appetite and secure aligned submissions
• Improve submission quality through disciplined underwriting feedback and market communication

Underwriting Leadership & Team Build-Out

• Hire, develop, and lead a team of industry-focused underwriters
• Establish underwriting authority levels, referral structure, and decision frameworks
• Set performance standards tied to profitability and risk selection discipline
• Advocate for staffing, tools, and operational support required to scale nationally

Product & Market Influence

• Define and refine underwriting appetite, guidelines, and guardrails
• Partner with product, operations, and actuarial to support rate adequacy and portfolio performance
• Provide market intelligence to influence forms, endorsements, and coverage positioning

Industry Representation

• Serve as the organization’s subject matter authority within the assigned vertical
• Represent Futuristic Underwriters in broker meetings and industry forums
• Position Futuristic Underwriters as a premier, disciplined, and trusted market for the vertical.  

Success Measures

• Profitable growth within the vertical
• Strong underwriting discipline and referral governance
• Measurable expansion and production lift from aligned retail distribution
• Successful hiring and development of underwriting talent
• Portfolio performance aligned with profitability targets

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of underwriting experience within the assigned industry segment
• Demonstrated portfolio-level profitability responsibility
• Proven ability to influence underwriting standards and appetite
• Established broker relationships within the vertical
• Leadership experience managing or mentoring underwriters
• Multi-state underwriting experience required
• CPCU or similar industry designation preferred
