Buckle My Shoe Preschool is seeking a warm, nurturing, and highly organized leader who is passionate about Early Childhood Education. We are looking for a creative, hard-working individual who thrives in an innovative environment and aligns with our educational philosophy.
Responsibilities include:
Parent Communication: Maintain daily communication with parents through various channels, including in-person conversations, a daily blog, and photo documentation of children’s experiences. Upload photos for parents and create slideshows that showcase children's learning and exploration.
Child Portfolios: Develop individual portfolios for each child, documenting higher-level thinking, dialogue, and analysis in real time. Also, create a class portfolio that highlights project work and learning experiences throughout the school year.
Classroom Management: Foster a supportive and organized learning environment, using gentle redirection. Facilitate both small- and large-group activities, circle time, and reflection meetings.
Lesson Planning: Design engaging lesson plans based on children's interests and project work. Incorporate specialist-led sessions (music, language, movement, and more) into weekly planning.
Care Responsibilities: Attend to the basic needs of infants, including feeding, dressing, and diaper changing. Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures to maintain an orderly environment.
Professional Development: Participate in staff development days with Reggio Emilia specialists and attend professional meetings. Actively engage in weekly meetings with co-teachers and administration to enhance learning for both staff and children.
Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, train, and supervise assistant teachers/co-teachers. Collaborate with colleagues on documentation and classroom projects.
Daily Responsibilities:
Prepare and present weekly lesson plans every Monday.
Regularly update children's portfolios and classroom documentation.
Collaborate with co-workers on planning and documentation.
Participate in all staff development and training sessions.
Embrace the Reggio Emilia philosophy and contribute to the school’s ongoing learning environment.
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Early Childhood Education (or currently pursuing the degree)
At least two years of classroom experience with infants (3 months to 1 year)
