Job Description - Infant Toddler Teacher - Early Head Start Teacher

C.H.I.L.D., Inc.’s mission is to promote school readiness and deliver comprehensive services to meet the emotional, social, health, nutritional and psychological needs of children while simultaneously supporting their families in improving their lives 

 Instructional Responsibilities 

     

  • Provide   meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences to enable   social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, according to CHILD, Inc.   philosophy.
  • Provide a happy   learning environment in a manner that encourages positive growth.
  • Arrange a   developmentally appropriate learning environment and maintain equipment.
  • Ensure that all   screenings and ongoing assessments are administered as required and develop   goals and curriculum plans for individual children and classroom.
  • Keep accurate and   up-to-date education records, including attendance, progress notes,   observations, and home visit reports.
  • Provide frequent   opportunities for members of the classroom team to take the “lead” in   classroom activities. Offer encouragement and support for all classroom staff   efforts.
  • Ensure that   classroom team develops and implements individualized plans for children   based on assessment information and reports information appropriately at Case   Review.
  • Ensure children’s   understanding of rules and routines through modeling of expectations.

 Classroom Management Responsibilities 

  

  • Ensure the safety and care of each child under his/her supervision.
  • Actively supervise children at all times, and know the names and number of children in care at all times.
  • Guide children’s behavior using positive strategies consistent with CHILD, Inc.’s Positive Behavior Guidance Plan.
  • Follow proper procedure for handwashing, toileting, and diapering if necessary.
  • Take part in all classroom meals and snacks, following CHILD, Inc. procedures and philosophy.
  • Ensure the health and Safety of children by following established practices and procedures and maintain the learning environment in a safe, orderly, and clean manner 
  • Assume full responsibility for classroom management and operations and adherence to federal, state, and CHILD, Inc. requirements.
  • Provide leadership, training, supervision, and on-going evaluation to all staff, volunteers, and college students assigned to his/her classroom.
  • Make appropriate home visits to each child’s home to ensure understanding and cooperation between home and school.
  • Work as a member of a team with Child Development Manager, Family Worker, Family Service Manager, Nurse, and Nutritionist to best individualize for child and family.

 Schedule:

 Monday - Friday

  • 8 hour shift  (Hours of operation are 7:30am - 5:30pm)

Work Location: Multiple Locations located in Warwick & Coventry, RI

Requirements

  

  • CDA or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Appropriate RIELDS certificate/plan to attain
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 40 pounds
  • Background clearances such as fingerprints, BCI, DCYF, and health records (immunizations) required.
