Infection Prevention Program Manager (RN) (Req 101114)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Infection Prevention Program Manager (Registered Nurse)  reports to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for implementation and ongoing monitoring of Infection Prevention and Practices across the organization, the Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention Clinic, and the Triage RNs that support patients within the clinical units. In addition, this position will support activities related to maintaining the CLIA waived Point of Care testing and the clinical application of the electronic medical record. 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:

• Supervises triage nursing staff, including scheduling, performance management, and addressing staff needs. 
• Provides Clinical Oversight to the Triage Team.
• Provides administrative support to the Director of Nursing as assigned.
• Develops and supports employees at all levels in a supportive atmosphere.
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to plan scheduled meetings and conferences.
• Take appropriate and timely action to resolve identified operational and clinical issues
• Has administrative responsibility for the Health Center’s Infection Prevention activities. 
• Collection of data, analysis, and reporting of IC surveillance activities.
• Coordinate and complete competencies for all Point of Care testing.
• Collaborates with the Clinical Pharmacist regarding medication management processes as it relates to infection prevention practices. 

Infection Prevention:

• Serves as Infection Prevention Nurse, facilitates infection prevention meetings as scheduled.
• Provide initial and ongoing education and training to employees and provide infection prevention strategies to deliver excellence in the delivery of patient-centered care.
• Develops and supports employees at all levels to promote practices aimed at infection prevention
• Collaborates with nursing and medical leadership to implement infection prevention protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with Facilities Department to interpret regulatory standards and implement organizational goals.
• Works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and the Director of Risk and Compliance to oversee corporate compliance in the clinical areas.
• Promotes compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding the safety of hazardous waste products.
• Demonstrates and advocates for current evidence-based infection prevention guidelines (i.e., ACIP, CDC, NYSDOH, Joint Commission, etc.). 
• Coordinates the posting of respiratory etiquette supplies (tissues, masks, hand sanitizer) in patient waiting areas.
• Collaborates with county/state partners to reduce the prevalence and incidence of sexually transmitted infections through early detection and treatment.

Occupational Health:

• Working with nursing supervisors, monitors fit testing for all appropriate employees.
• Responsible for NYS DOH public health audits.
• Coordinate health assessment appointments, follows-up on missing documentation, and assists with annual health assessment processes, including respiratory fit testing.
• Collaborate with Human Resources to monitor/track individuals in clearance process.

Miscellaneous:

• Prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and oversees multiple responsibilities. 
• Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service.
• Understand and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance, and client confidentiality.
• Ensures and/or remains in compliance with all relevant internal and external regulatory policies and procedures.
• Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by Whitney Young Health.
• Completes other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Current NYS Nursing License; Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within 1 year. Five or more years’ experience in health care services; prior supervisory experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrates cultural sensitivity and competency related to the populations served; proficient in use of MS Office products.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in nursing

Salary range: $95,000 - $105,000 annually
