Full time/72 hours per pay\n\n8:00am-5:30pm, 8:30pm-6:00pm, 9:00am-6:30pm\n\nAs an Oncology Infusion Nurse, the oncology nurse collaborates with other cancer care team members to assess and respond to the full impact cancer has on the patient and family, including the physical symptoms, functional limitations, psychosocial disruptions, and knowledge needs associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Oncology nursing is patient-centered and may encompass individuals, families, groups, and communities. The oncology nurse is accountable for delivering care within the framework of the nursing process. The scope of oncology nursing practice will include health promotion and disease prevention strategies, treatment and related physical care of disease management, psychosocial support, and education for active participation in decision-making. The oncology nurse actively participates in professional role development activities, including quality assessment and improvement, practice evaluation, professional education, collegiality, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the review and clinical application of research findings. Integrates the Collaborative Model of Care with a strong focus on patient-centered care into daily practice. Provides care for patients across the life span in a manner sensitive to social, cultural diversity. Demonstrates competency in all aspects of chemotherapy administration, immunotherapy administration, IV therapy, subcutaneous and intramuscular injection administration. Knowledgeable and practices within the ONS guidelines during any adverse event while administering chemotherapy, i.e. extravasations, infiltrations or chemotherapy spill incidents \n\nEducation\n\nMinimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree\n\n * Type of degree: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.\n\n\n\n\n * Area of study or major: Nursing\n\n\n\n\n * \n\n\n\n\nLicensure/Certification/Registration\n\n \n\n * Valid Ohio RN license \n\n\n\n\n * Current CPR certification required at the time of hire\n\n\n\n\n * ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate or must obtain within 30 days of hire \n\n\n\n\n * ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate or must obtain within 9 months of hire\n\n\n\n\n * OCN certification or must obtain within 1 year of eligibility (eligibility=2 years as RN and 2000 hours of adult oncology nursing practice)\n\n\n\n\n * ACLS required within 6 months of hire\n\n\n\n\n \n\nExperience\n\n \n\nMinimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience\n\nPrior job title or occupational experience: N/A\n\nPrior specific functional responsibilities: N/A\n\nPreferred experience: Prefer expertise in peripheral venipuncture and expert assessment skills related to vascular access and IV therapy access and IV therapy\n\nOther experience requirements: N/A\n\n \n\nKnowledge/Skills\n\n * Must be able to multitask with constant interruptions while maintaining a pleasant demeanor\n\n\n\n\n * Basic computer knowledge\n\n\n\n\n * Strong organization skills\n\n\n\n\n * Effective interpersonal and communication skills\n\n\n\n
