Definition of Position:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our gastroenterology infusion team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing infusion therapies for gastrointestinal conditions. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, administering medications and infusions, monitoring patient responses, and educating patients about their treatments. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes and maintain a safe, comfortable environment. Requirements include a valid RN license, experience in infusion therapy, and knowledge of gastroenterology procedures. Direct Supervisor:

Clinical Administrator

Responsibilities:

•  The ability to insert and manage intravenous catheters and access ports precisely and safely
•  In-depth knowledge of infusion therapy, medications and patient care
• Strong written and verbal communication
•  Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy for proper dosing and treatment
•  Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment plans, infusion procedures, and potential side effects

2. Precepts new employees.
3. Assists in implementing unit changes.
4. Adapts in changes in assignments and work load as necessitated by staffing changes and patient volumes.

•  Delegating non-professional aspects of care to ancillary staff.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current state license to practice as a Registered Nurse 
•  Experience in GI endoscopy preferred
• Membership in GI specialty or other local, state or national professional societies is encouraged
• Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support certification 
•  Maintains ACLS certification

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to help lift, turn, roll, push, and pull equipment/patients for proper positioning during procedures and transportation from one area to the other as necessary

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to blood borne pathogens requiring the use of universal precautions and/or personal protective equipment.
• Knowledgeable of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., patient body fluids and disinfectant chemicals).
