Job Description - In-Home Sales Manager


  

Summary 

The In-Home Sales Manager leads the sales operations for a flooring installation company, overseeing a team of sales professionals across multiple locations. This customer-facing role is responsible for driving sales growth through effective sales strategies, strong relationship management, and hands-on project oversight. Key responsibilities include conducting in-home consultations for residential and commercial clients, measuring and estimating, preparing quotes, and managing projects from start to finish. The manager also collaborates closely with Area Installation Managers to ensure high-quality project completion. Success in this role requires strong leadership, a results-oriented mindset, and a professional, customer-focused approach to flooring solutions. 

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets across residential and commercial flooring markets.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and manage a team of Sales Representatives and Lead Generators to ensure high performance and continuous professional development.
  • Meet with clients on site to assess needs, provide product recommendations, take measurements, and develop customized flooring solutions.
  • Accurately prepare project estimates and quotes, ensuring transparency and alignment with customer expectations and company margins.
  • Manage the full sales-to-installation process, working closely with Area Installation Managers and operations to ensure timely and high-quality project completion.
  • Foster  strong relations with new and existing clients to drive repeat business, referrals, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate  with the Lead Generation team to develop lead strategies, monitor lead performance, and ensure high conversion rates in both retail and residential settings. 
  • Track sales performance, team KPIs, and market trends to inform business  decisions, identify opportunities, and report regularly to Senior      Leadership. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Education and/or Experience – bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered; Five or more years of  sales experience, preferably in home improvement, construction, flooring,      or a related industry. Two years of leadership or team management  experience with a proven ability to coach and develop high-performing  sales teams. 
  • Language Skills – Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write letters and prepare other documents as needed. Proofreads      work.
  • Lead Engagement Skills – Comfortable initiating conversations with both warm and cold leads, maintaining professionalism and persistence in outreach.
  • Mathematical Skills –      Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure for  basic algebraic and geometric calculations
  • Excellent Communication Skills - Ability to clearly explain product value in person and over the phone, strong listening skills to understand customer needs, and clear and  persuasive written communication. Be able to communicate effectively in      English orally and in writing.
  • Marketing Automation and CRM Proficiency – Experience with marketing automation tools to manage and  analyze lead data. Proficiency in CRM systems, quoting tools, and general  technology platforms (e.g., tablets, mobile sales apps). 
  • Computer Skills – Knowledge   of computer workstations and peripheral equipment; Knowledge of database,  spreadsheet, email, and word processing software. 
  • Sales Targets – Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets in a customer-facing environment.      
  • Team Collaboration – Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Vision – Ability to view  documents, multiple screens, handwritten text, and drive.
  • Driver’s License – Valid  driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to customer sites.      
  • Travel - Road warrior; 75% travel required.
