Inpatient Nursing Coordinator - Crisis Services

Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff. 

Summary:

The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Crisis Stabilization Units with oversight of the staff as well as working with the clients for admissions, discharges, and client care. The coordinator models excellent patient care and will train staff to provide all aspects of patient care within the Units, including but not limited to, ongoing evaluation and screening of patient needs, and patient monitoring and medical and psychiatric observation. 

The Coordinator will assist the Nursing Manager in providing direct supervision to the inpatient staff and will be involved in staff trainings, scheduling, and disciplinary action. 

Hours: Four, weekly 10-hour shifts with a rotating on-call schedule

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and guidance in the absence or unavailability of the Crisis Stabilization Unit Manager and the Crisis Stabilization Unit RN Coordinator to ensure that the program runs smoothly. 
• Assist with staff recruitment, screening, hiring, training, evaluation, and disciplinary of inpatient staff.
• Communicate with staff members throughout the shift to ensure their awareness of ongoing issues, needs, changing priorities, and other happenings to promote effective treatment.
• Ensure that the safety and adequacy of the physical facility meets the needs of the observation patients.
• Assist in the operation of program activities within Ohio MHAS and CARF program standards as required maintaining State program certification.
• Assist with reviewing, evaluating, and recommending strategic plans for services appropriate to meet the changing needs of the patients.
• Maintain active communication with all agency treatment components to ensure patients’ smooth transitions throughout the continuum of care.
• Provide rotating on-call coverage as needed. 
• Facilitate a positive and supportive treatment atmosphere and maintain a healthy environment to promote the intervention and recovery process and to motivate patients to continue in treatment.
• Collaborate with the Inpatient SUD Director and the Inpatient SUD Manager to provide residential team leadership for effective crisis intervention.
• Administer medication, triage patients, and provide direct patient care. 
• Initiate care plans to guide treatment and intervention for identified patients. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications: 

• Must have a current Ohio nursing license in good standing, LPN, RN preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• CPR and First Aid trained and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) trained.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Professional and leadership abilities and qualifications 
• The ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work outside of normal business hours with on-call rotation responsibility and rotation of shifts to include weekends and holidays
