JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintenance of Pharmacy Inventory

o Manage all aspects of daily medication orders from wholesaler.

o Place specialty drug orders through outside vendors

o Coordinate medication procurement for Clinics

o Ensure all medication barcodes are in the formulary database to support BCMA.

o Optimize medication inventory par levels to avoid stockouts and reduce waste.

o Record necessary information for compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act

o Oversee controlled substances (CIII to CV) ordering and required documentation.

o Monitor, communicate, and manage drug shortages.

o Lead Annual medication inventory. Attend monthly GPO buyer call.

o Manage formularies change management process

o Restocks shelves and areas in a timely manner after checking and pricing all drugs received.

o Processes PO s in a timely manner with signature/date to AP.

o Delivers controlled substances to pharmacist for sign into perpetual inventory.

o Assesses inventory daily and orders through wholesaler according to budgeted vendor process.

o Correctly checks in wholesale drug orders in accordance with hospital policy.

o Locates order numbers of needed items and utilize the wholesaler computer and/or MSI machine to place orders.

o Routinely rotates stock to ensure inventory remains current AND assures expiration date stickers are maintained.

o Prepares and submits online stock orders for Materials Management and assures pars are maintained for IV fluids and other supplies.

o Maintains par levels of inventory from approved vendor sources per approved accounts.

o Generates reports as requested in a timely manner to document volume/purchasing/inventory.

o Appropriately discards wasted and destroyed drugs in accordance with Pharmacy procedure.

o Arranges for expired drug control back to approved return vendor at least quarterly.

o Sequesters and returns manufacturer recalls.

o Maintains an updated formulary to comply with joint commission requirement.

· 340B Compliance

o Works with Director of Pharmacy and other parties to ensure compliance with 340B Program

· Patient Charging

o Accurately interprets medication administration records and charge sheets and enters the appropriate charges

o Accurately issues credit to patients for non-charted medications from the MAR and credits returned IVs to the patient.

o Processes patient charge exceptions to ensure accurate billing and revenue cycles.

· Professionalism and Self-Improvement

o Represents the department and the hospital with high moral standards, showing empathy and care to those who we serve.

o Participates in performance improvement programs and ensures compliance with TJC standards

o Uses work time productively; limits personal phone calls, personal written communication, visitors, etc. to break and meal times

o Maintains amicable relationships with coworkers to help foster a pleasant working environment.

o Demonstrates flexibility in working hours, shift schedules and assignments to meet staffing requirements

o Accepts responsibility for attending staff meetings, reviewing staff meeting minutes and all other Pharmacy Department communications

o Accepts accountability for actions by utilization of self-evaluation, peer and supervisor evaluation to modify job performance

o Articulates and demonstrates a professional image daily to patients, visitors and other professionals

o Achieves required continuing education to maintain certification; applies for renewal in a timely manner without lapse in certification or state registration.

· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

· High School Diploma (or equivalent) or higher

· Tennessee State Pharmacy Technician Registration (application must be in progress before hire, and must be completed within 45 days of starting position)

· Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification by PTCB (or equivalent)

· Minimum of three years experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting
