Job Description - Inpatient Resource Specialist

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:



  1. The Inpatient Resource Specialist will serve as the point person for Caron in terms of financial for families, patients, internal departments, insurance case managers to answer questions and direct necessary information as part of daily attendance at treatment team meetings.

  2. Notify the billing department of any and all funding changes during a patient’s treatment when determined.

  3. Notifying all Regional referral directors with financial issues with any of their key accounts.

  4. Will serve as “patient advocate” to enhance a collaborative relationship to maximize the patient’s, family’s and referrals ability to make informed decisions regarding aftercare treatment needs as it relates financially/clinically.

  5. The Inpatient Resource Specialist communicates with clinical staff/directors, billing office, regional offices and medical unit at regular intervals throughout the course of treatment. Will develop an effective working relationship to maintain appropriate cost and desired outcomes.

  6. Manage/determine financial assistance/discounts for accounts ensuring proper work/forms are signed by guarantor/patient prior to discharge/transfer

  7. Will collaborate with the treatment team in development and execution for Caron Continuum admissions, including appointment setting, funding and insurance arrangements. by Collecting all money by discharge for extensions/transfers within the Caron Continuum.

  8. Complete tracking of documentation for completion of financial forms.

  9. Complete tracking of outcomes as it relates to all insurance patients for authorization, denials and appeals.

  10. The Inpatient Resource Specialist may be asked to be a part of family sessions as a member of the treatment team to provide education to patient and families regarding financial and continuing care options.

  11. Complete all necessary documentation in Aura.

  12. Will respond to notary needs in a timely manner.

  13. Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

  1. Ability to communicate verbally for 85% of workday.

  2. Ability to sit for 90% of workday.

  3. Ability to type 85% of workday.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. 1-year experience in customer service, in healthcare setting – required.

  2. High school diploma or equivalent required

  3. Computer experience –working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) or similar software – required.

  4. 2 years continuous sobriety preferred, if in recovery.

  5. Member of Pennsylvania of Notaries-preferred or willing to become a notary if needed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

  2. Knowledge of addiction, 12 steps and ASAM level of placement criteria required

  3. Ability to report promptly and regularly to work

  4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  5. Must demonstrate skills in achieving internal and external customer satisfaction.

  6. Will display an accurate understanding of the Treatment Planning Process, documentation and confidentiality regulations.

  7. Skilled at working under pressure and responding to multiple priorities simultaneously.

  8. Ability to work as a member of a team and proactively identify needs of the department.

  9. Capable of working independently, coupled with the ability to discern the need for escalation and intervention.


COMPETENCIES / MEASUREMENTS:



  1. Ability to assist the treatment team in developing an appropriate ongoing treatment needs as it relates to funding through peer feedback and chart review.

  2. Work collaboratively with other departments and external resources to achieve maximum benefit for the patient through direct observation and peer feedback.

  3. Maintain all appropriate documentation and tracking guidelines through chart review.

  4. Effective communication internally and externally with patience and professionalism through direct observation.

  5. Ability to understand Caron’s financial practices as it relates in the continuum.
