Inspections Technician

Job Description - Inspections Technician

Inspections Technician: The Detail Is Everything.

Tampa, FL | Full-Time | On-Site

Every solar system we install has to pass. You're the one who makes sure it does.

Freedom Power was born when Freedom Solar and Freedom HVAC joined forces to become Texas and Florida's complete whole-house energy company. We don't just put panels on roofs — we see every project through from installation to permission-to-operate. That final stretch, where municipal inspectors, utility approvals, and code compliance converge, is where the Inspections Technician lives. We call it Energy Empowerment, and you're the person who locks it in.

If you're detail-oriented, process-driven, and thrive when you own something end to end — this role is built for you. You'll manage the inspections process for residential solar projects from post-install through final sign-off, making sure every system meets code, every record is clean, and nothing falls through the cracks. When inspections are clear, you'll stay hands-on across the broader Field Operations team — electrical support, troubleshooting, battery and EV charger installs, permit runs, and more. No two days look the same.

Competitive pay and a clear path to advance your career.

What You'll Do

Core Inspection Duties

  • Attend municipal and electrical utility inspections, ensure code compliance, and address any corrections identified by inspectors on the spot.

  • Perform post-installation inspections to verify workmanship, safety, and system readiness ahead of permission-to-operate (PTO).

  • Complete daily inspection reporting and documentation — accurate, organized records for every project, every time.

  • Facilitate clear communication between Field Operations, permitting, and other departments on inspection status and outstanding items.

  • Attend and document project, safety, and operational meetings as needed.

Additional Field Support Duties

  • Provide electrical support including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of residential solar equipment and wiring.

  • Support solar monitoring system troubleshooting and repairs across multiple technologies.

  • Assist with MDP upgrades, battery backup installations, EV charger installations, and solar rough-ins.

  • Support warehouse operations — organizing inventory and preparing materials for field crews.

  • Pick up and drop off permits with municipal and utility offices.

  • Coordinate and transport material deliveries to job sites as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Operations Manager.

What You Bring

  • At least 1 year of experience in construction, solar, or PV installations

  • TX - Valid Apprentice Electrician license, or ability to obtain one within 60 days

  • Valid state driver's license and willingness to travel at least 40%, including weekends

  • Familiarity with residential electrical projects and roofing systems

  • Exceptional organization and process orientation — you don't let details slip

  • Strong problem-solving ability and excellent communication skills

  • Outstanding customer service skills

The Physical Side

  • Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, navigating roofs, and using power tools

  • Able to lift 50+ lbs. and perform bending, stretching, and squatting throughout the day

  • Ready to work in extreme weather conditions, including Texas heat

  • Willing to travel frequently — at least 40% of the time, weekends included

What's In It For You

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • 100% Company-Sponsored Short-Term Disability

  • 401(k) Employer Matching

  • Weekly Pay Dates

  • 3 Weeks PTO + 3 Sick Days

  • 12 Paid Holidays + 1 Floating Holiday

  • Upward mobility opportunities
