Job Summary & Essential Functions:
The Inspector is responsible for performing in-process visual inspections on circuit board assemblies (PCBA) and components to ensure adherence to industry standards such as IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620. This includes verifying the integrity of solder joints, component placement, and compliance with build specifications during the production process. The role involves the following key responsibilities:
• Perform in-process inspections at various stages of production to ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Class 2 & 3), and customer specifications.
• Inspect solder joints, component placement, and other quality attributes during the assembly process.
• Conduct audits of production processes for adherence to documented procedures and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, report defects, and log Pass/Fail/Reject decisions on workshop travelers and in
applicable databases. Ensure that data is collected for quality tracking, trend analysis, and reporting, supporting proactive
issue resolution and continuous improvement.
• Promote and maintain 5S standards to ensure clean, organized, and efficient workstations.
• Participate in Lean initiatives, including Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
• Interpret and utilize technical documentation such as drawings, bills of materials (BOM), engineering change orders (ECOs),
and redlines to guide inspections.
• Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues in real-time and provide feedback to ensure process
improvements are implemented.
• Assist the Quality Manager with quality improvement projects, root cause analysis, and process documentation updates.

• Hand tools (mirrors, tweezers, etc.)
Work Environment and Safety Equipment Required: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.
• This is an electronics field service and manufacturing environment that requires the use of safety devices including glasses
with side shields and ESD equipment/clothing
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
• Occasional lifting of objects up to 25 lbs.
• Bending at the head and neck
• Exposure to hot or cold temperature when working in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled.
Requirements
• Ability to distinguish colors and possess strong hand-eye coordination and good depth perception.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with the capability to analyze inspection results and contribute to corrective actions.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and other technical documents related to circuit boards, components, and
subassemblies.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to detect defects, discrepancies, and areas for process improvement.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, diverse team in a fast-paced production environment.
• IPC certification (IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620) preferred. Experience with quality metrics is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.
• Minimum of (1) year previous in-production inspection experience required.
• Minimum of (1) year previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Minimum of (1) year experience in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred.
• Written communication and technical report writing skills preferred
• Knowledge of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements for components and PCBAs is preferred.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodologies is highly desirable.
