Job Description - Inspector



Department: Housekeeping


Job Title: Inspector / Inspectress


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


 


Job Overview: The Inspector / Inspectress will inspect cleaned departure rooms, stayover rooms, and VIP's. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining tools and supplies, and support to Guest Room Attendants and House Attendants. The Inspector / Inspectress will assist the housekeeping staff in achieving the highest standard of cleanliness for the property and adhering to the safety standards.


 


Reports to: Housekeeping Management


 


Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Assigns workers their duties and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness

  • Obtains list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges to prepare work assignments

  • Coordinates work activities among departments

  • Conducts the morning line-up and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment

  • Records data for special projects and inspect rooms thoroughly

  • Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies

  • Makes recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation

  • Examines building to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management

  • Attends staff meetings to discuss company policies and patrons' complaints

  • Issues supplies and equipment to workers

  • Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff

  • Advises manager, desk clerk, or engineering personnel of rooms ready for occupancy

  • Records data regarding work assignments, personnel actions, and time cards

  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving

  • Supervises the housekeeping team in accordance to the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Hotel Policies

  • Assist in the development and execution of department training to educate employees on how to safely and thoroughly perform their tasks


 


Qualifications:



  • Must have flexible schedule including availability on weekends and holidays especially Friday and Saturday from 10am-6pm 

  • Ability to maintain standard attendance expectation

  • Previous housekeeping management experience in a union environment is preferred

  • High school diploma or equivalent or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or Hotel & Restaurant Management with a desire for growth is preferred

  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public

  • Must be able to verbally communicate in English

  • Must be able to read written instructions in English

  • Ability lift up and push/pull up to 50 lbs. plus stand, walk and move around during entire 8 hour shift

  • Experience with Property Management System is important, OPERA preferred
