Inspector II

Essential Duties

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, process sheets, engineering specifications, and standards to perform inspections and ensure conformance to standards.


• Utilize shop math and precision measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, CMM (if applicable) for dimensional checks.


• Set up and use standard and special gauges, correcting faulty gauging techniques as needed.


• Verify all gauging prior to completing dimensional checks on in-process or vendor-supplied parts.


• Inspect materials received from vendors for conformance to specifications, cleanliness, structure, and hardenability.


• Perform visual inspections for defects such as burrs, finish, and burns, and conduct metallurgical inspections as required.


• Check completed bearing assemblies for functional and operating characteristics using standard and specialized test apparatus.


• Assist with inspection of returned goods to verify customer claims of failure or rejection,

Qualifications:

• Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required. A minimum of three years of experience as a precision inspector in machine shop operations, with at least one year in inspecting bearings or similar high-precision products.


• Skills/Abilities: Ability to read blueprints and familiarity with mechanical and electrical gauging techniques. Competency in basic arithmetic and the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


• Physical and Environmental Requirements: Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals. Moderate noise levels. Regularly required to use hands, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

MIN: $25.00 to $29.00
