At Cleveland Wheel and Brake Systems, the Inspector is a member of the Quality organization and is responsible for various inspection requirements, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date acceptance and rejection records and/or certifications systems as required by the applicable specifications, determining acceptance or rejection after inspection and/or calibration of parts, identifying defective conditions and test failures, and preparing all appropriate documentation and/or calibration history.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

INSPECTION:

· Perform inspection on detailed machined parts using a wide variety of measuring and test equipment to determine acceptability or rejections of parts and/or parts finish.

· Interpret specifications charts, and manuals. Use mathematics to convert blueprint dimensions and tolerances. Work with the guidelines of drawings, schematics, blueprints, route sheets, travelers, quality directives, technical engineering specifications, customer’s requirements and military standards and/or calibration procedures.

· Observe and perform audits of a moderate scope or complexity on assembly and test, machining and other functions for compliance to procedures.

CALIBRATION:

· Issue to or remove instruments/inspected parts from various areas.

· Perform calibration of a moderate scope or complexity on various types of measuring and testing equipment.

· Use standards to make moderately complete set-ups for calibration of measuring and test equipment.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE TEST:

· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly equipment and material checks.

· Perform pre-inspection and post-inspection cleaning.

· Set-up equipment and conduct tests.

· Perform complete inspections in accordance with the applicable specifications, standards, and other contractual documents.

· Interpret, evaluate, and document inspection results in accordance with approved procedures.

· Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain FOD free work area.

· Perform other related responsibilities.


Requirements

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required.

· 2 years related inspection, calibration, or NDT experience or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities.

· May be required to be certified as a Level II Non-Destructive Test (NDT) Inspector in a magnetic particle inspection and/or liquid penetrant inspection. Certification must be in accordance with MIL-STD-410 and PES1-29.

· Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, manufacturer’s specifications, and internal drawings and procedures.

· Ability to use and/or calibrate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical instruments and gages.

· Possess working knowledge of shop mathematics.

· Knowledge of applicable military standards may be required.

· Personal hand tools may be required.

· Must demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively with others and to be a participative team player.

TYPICAL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time. The team member is required to demonstrate manual dexterity and use hands to operate machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the team member is regular attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
