Compensation 

We’ll pay you an annual salary of $50,000 to $55,000.  

About the Job 

The Inspired Aging Manager leads the visioning, design, and implementation of interdepartmental and intergenerational programming for adults aged 60 and better, fostering meaningful engagement with the Jewish community through Shalom Austin. 

The Inspired Aging initiative brings together colleagues from across Shalom Austin and JFS with a holistic focus on living a full life, while enabling our clients and community members to explore topics such as grief and loss, death positive conversations and wise aging, creating a center for meaningful and life affirming care and dialogue. Working closely with teams across Shalom Austin and Jewish Family Service, the Manager ensures a holistic, inclusive approach to serving the aging population.

You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:   

  • Develop and implement engaging, diverse programs for older adults, including educational, cultural, social, fitness, arts, and volunteer opportunities.
  • In collaboration with the JFS Senior Program Director, shape and refine the strategic vision for Inspired Aging and understand the full scope of all senior services across Shalom Austin.
  • Serve as a central liaison across Shalom Austin departments to ensure cohesive and innovative programming for adults 60+
  • Oversees day to day programming for adults 60+. 
  • Create, monitor, and manage Inspired Aging annual budget and ensure compliance for relevant activities and programs. 
  • Develops Inspired Aging content strategy in partnership with Marketing, including the monthly Inspired Aging newsletter and calendar. 
  • Collaborate with clinical, case management, nurse advocacy, and volunteer departments to offer holistic services to all older adults.
  • Ensures robust programming opportunities exist for all ages of the adult programming spectrum. 
  • Works collaboratively with staff and volunteers to deliver adult programming holiday celebrations. 
  • Coordinate outreach and programming for Jewish seniors in congregate living settings, in collaboration with Clergy, JFS staff, and external partners.
  • Develops meaningful relationships and partners with local and national aging organizations (AGE, ASA, AARP, NJHSA, JCC Association, etc.) to serve and strengthen our aging population.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for newcomers to town who are 60+. 
  • Track data metrics and program outcomes to share with senior leaders, donors and lay leaders.
  • Support development efforts to identify potential sponsors for programs and donor opportunities. 
  • Manages and responds to the needs of the Descendants of Holocaust Survivors (DOHS) affinity group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 2 or more years of experience working with older adults. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience running mid to large sized programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to take initiative, inspire others with a vision and work well and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Master’s degree preferred.
