About Carolina Achieve:

Carolina Achieve is a new charter school in Mebane, NC, opening in August 2025 for Kindergarten - 2nd Grade. The school will serve 100 students per grade level, with no more than 25 students in a classroom. Each classroom will have a lead teacher and support from an instructional assistant. 

Carolina Achieve will add a grade level per year (beginning with 3rd grade in 2026-27), eventually becoming a K-12 institution.

Job Overview:

An Instructional Assistant at Carolina Achieve will collaborate closely with teachers to provide direct support to students in the classroom, facilitating learning by assisting with lesson delivery, managing student behavior, preparing materials, and providing individualized support to students with diverse needs, all while upholding the school's mission and fostering a positive learning environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Classroom Support:
  
  
  
  • Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans by providing small group instruction, reinforcing concepts, and facilitating student engagement. 
  
  
  • Monitor student progress during activities and provide immediate feedback and support as needed. 
  
  
  • Facilitate transitions between activities and manage classroom routines to maintain a positive learning environment. 
  
  
  • Prepare and distribute instructional materials, including handouts, visual aids, and technology-based resources. 
  
  
  
  


• Individualized Support:
  
  
  
  • Work with students requiring additional support, including those with learning differences, by providing targeted interventions and differentiated instruction. 
  
  
  • Assist students with specific academic skills, such as reading comprehension, math calculations, or writing mechanics. 
  
  
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for special education students. 
  
  
  
  


• Behavioral Management:
  
  
  
  • Monitor student behavior and address minor disruptions proactively, following established classroom management strategies. 
  
  
  • Communicate student concerns and progress to the teacher, and actively participate in positive behavior support plans. 
  
  
  
  


• Data Collection and Reporting:
  
  
  
  • Collect and record student data related to academic progress and behavior as directed by the teacher. 
  
  
  • Assist with grading assignments and providing feedback to students. 
  
  
  
  


• Collaboration and Communication:
  
  
  
  • Maintain open communication with the teacher, school staff, and parents to ensure student needs are met. 
  
  
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills. 
  
  
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Associate's degree in education or related field preferred


• Experience working with students in a classroom setting, preferably with diverse learners


• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students


• Commitment to supporting student learning and achieving academic goals


• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
