Instructional Faculty - Male 9th Grade Seminar 
This position offices in-person, on campus 
  
ROLE SUMMARY 
  
The 9th Grade Seminar Faculty member supports and mentors students in all aspects of the transition to Valor and plays an integral role in the academic and spiritual development of 9th graders. The 9th Grade Seminar curriculum helps equip students with the skills needed to transition effectively into high school and thrive during their time at Valor. 
 
Faculty members at Valor Christian High School are charged with preparing tomorrow’s leaders to transform the world for Christ. Valor Faculty live out a compelling relationship with Jesus Christ, which is central to daily instruction and interactions with students, parents and team members. Valor Faculty are not only masters of the curriculum, but they see each student as a unique individual to be known and loved. Faculty members prepare students for college and mentor students in all aspects of their academic and spiritual development.

        Seamlessly and deliberately integrate Biblical truth and Christian values into curriculum and instruction 
        Implore meaningful instructional techniques and texture in the classroom to engage a variety of learning styles and promote critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and innovation 
        Provide a learning environment and classroom management style built upon mutual respect and conducive to student learning 
        Collaborate with the 9th Grade Seminar Team to refine the curriculum and establish the necessary foundational and academic skills for students to be successful at Valor 
        Coordinate with 9th Grade Teachers in core subjects to promote a cohesive learning culture and support student outcomes in each subject area

        Invest in the lives of students through Life Groups, senior prayer partners, and other mentorship opportunities

RESULTS 
Valor seeks to fulfill the expected student outcomes of spiritual formation, college preparedness, and cultural engagement. Through the 9th Grade Seminar course and interactions with the faculty member, students will have the opportunity to experience God’s love and know that God has a plan and purpose for their life. 
  
The successful 9th Grade Seminar teacher helps students display academic and personal competencies which will enable them to manage themselves well, effectively communicate, and pursue their goals. As a result of a vibrant and healthy learning environment, students will enjoy the 9th Grade Seminar and be able to articulate the value of the course. At the completion of the 9th grade year, students will be able to articulate their learning style, communication style, personality/temperament type, character strengths, and identity in Christ. 
  
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED COMPETENCIES 
        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required 
        Advanced degree in a related area is preferred 
        Solid biblical and theological foundation and understanding 
        Desire to teach and/or experience within Christian education
        High school teaching experience preferred 
  
PHYSICAL DEMANDS 
The same basic physical demands described here are the same for all employees to successfully perform the essential functions of their jobs. Employees must periodically lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and could occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT 
The work environment characteristics are varied and include classroom, office, and outdoor events while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is also varied.
  
POSITION TYPE: A: Student-facing positions. Traditional school calendar. August - May. This position offices in-person, on campus. 
  
HOURS PER WEEK: Full-time, Exempt 
  
SUPERVISOR: 9th Grade Seminar Department Chair
