Medical Assistant – Clinical Instructor (Part -Time)

Organization: Western Medical Training Center
Parent Company: Equip Human Solutions
Location: San Diego County, CA (In -Person Lab Instruction)
Compensation: $28/hour
Schedule: Part -Time (Evenings and/or Weekends)

Position Overview

WMTC is seeking a passionate, skilled, and student -centered Medical Assistant – Clinical Instructor to lead hands -on lab instruction for our Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) cohorts.

This role is ideal for a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant who is enthusiastic about teaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The Clinical Instructor plays a critical role in translating theory into real -world skill mastery, ensuring students demonstrate competency, professionalism, and clinical confidence prior to externship placement.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Instruction & Skills Training

  • Facilitate in -person lab instruction aligned with national certification standards (NHA/NCCCT).

  • Teach and supervise core MA clinical skills including:

    • Vital signs & patient intake

    • Phlebotomy & specimen collection

    • EKG administration

    • Injections (IM, SubQ, ID – simulation)

    • Infection control & PPE

    • Clinical documentation & workflow

  • Evaluate student skill competency using standardized checklists.

  • Provide real -time coaching and corrective feedback.

Student Engagement & Professional Development

  • Foster a positive, accountable, and professional classroom culture.

  • Model patient -centered communication and ethical conduct.

  • Reinforce employability skills (punctuality, teamwork, professionalism).

  • Support students preparing for externship placement.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain attendance records and skills validation logs.

  • Ensure lab safety and adherence to OSHA standards.

  • Collaborate with Program Director and Director of Student Success regarding student performance.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

  • Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience (ambulatory or outpatient preferred)

  • Active BLS certification

  • Strong communication and mentoring skills

  • Professional demeanor and high ethical standards

Preferred:

  • Prior teaching, training, or preceptor experience

  • Experience with NHA certification standards

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus

  • Familiarity with hybrid education models

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification is preferred.
  • Previous experience in classroom instruction or a related field is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast -paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health practices is a plus.
  • CPR certification is a plus.
