Required Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses
• Verifiable work experience as a Wind technician
Ability to explain and demonstrate knowledge of the following:
• Fundamentals of direct current and related circuits
• Ohm's law and related formulas
• Circuit analysis techniques
• Wind farm design strategies
• Safety at height
• Basic fluid operation and fluid power schematics
• Fundamentals of alternating current
• Series and parallel AC components
• Working knowledge of digital electronics, logic gates, and numbering systems
• Wind turbine components and systems
• SCADA systems
• Working knowledge of PLCs
• Application of motors, controllers, and sensors in wind turbine circuits
• Troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems
• Rigging
Preferred Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses
• Implementation of Kirchhoff's laws, Faraday's Law and Joules law
• OSHA 10 general industry training (or above)
• Wind Turbine PLC programming
• Working knowledge electricity production and transmission from turbine to grid
• Wind turbine maintenance, torquing and tensioning
• Working knowledge of solar production
• Industrial battery storage experience
Education and Experience
Required
• Associate degree in a closely related field and demonstrated qualifications in the technology’s teaching discipline.
• Verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved by the Vice Chancellor who oversees academic programs, or his/her designee.*
