Job Description - Instrument & Controls Technician

Responsibilities

As an Instrument & Controls Technician, you will provide important electrical and instrumentation support to the Fairburn, GA plant by testing, troubleshooting, and repairing a range of electronic equipment.  The role requires a candidate who is comfortable and hands-on with Rockwell (RSLogix/Studio 5000) and Siemens (TIA Portal/Step 7) software to diagnose faults and troubleshoot equipment.

Some of your essential duties and responsibilities may include: 

  • Analyzing and addressing the root causes of electrical issues to repair complicated electrical equipment. 

  • Maintaining microprocessors, PLC, motor drive, operator interface terminals, and robotic systems by making modifications and installing parts as necessary. 

  • Using Rockwell (RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000) and Siemens (TIA Portal/Step 7) software daily to diagnose faults, monitor program logic, and troubleshoot automated equipment.

  • Reading and using diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering instructions.

  • Root Cause Analysis, Breakdown Analysis, Preventative & Preventative & Predictive maintenance activities.



Qualifications

You may fit well into this role if you have: 

  • Experience troubleshooting Siemens PLC controllers, especially S7-1200/1500 series, using TIA Portal and STEP 7 software for program diagnostics, fault analysis, and online monitoring of ladder, FBD, or STL logic.

  • Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) PLC controllers, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix platforms, using RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 software for ladder logic diagnostics, fault identification, and program modifications. 

  • Have a basic knowledge of electronics and electrical theories, including digital circuitry, AC/DC theory, microprocessors, and logic systems. 

 

  • Can work as a member of a team and communicate technical information to other personnel. 

 

  • Need to have exposure to automated controls systems in a high-speed application. 

 

  • Experience troubleshooting Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) PLC controllers, including ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and MicroLogix platforms, using RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 software for ladder logic diagnostics, fault identification, and program modifications.

  • Electrical Technical School / Military equivalent or 2+ years Industrial Electrical experience. 

  • Previous Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens Technologies is Preferred.  Experience with one or the other is a requirement for this Role.
