Job Description - Instrumentation & Control Associate Engineer

United Integrated Services (USA) Corp. was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 2020. UIS is a U.S. subsidiary of United Integrated Services Co., Ltd. (UIS Taiwan) which was founded in Taiwan in 1982. UIS is a multidisciplinary engineering and construction company. We provide fully integrated design-build services to our clients in the high-technology industry for their manufacturing facility needs. Our scope of services includes engineering design, high-tech factory planning, and on-time equipment and material delivery in which clean-room systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and tool hook-up, are all vital parts in need of total coordination.


 

Summary: 


United Integrated Services (USA) is searching for an innovative Associate Engineer Instrumentation & Control to join our team! As an I&C Associate Engineer, you will be responsible for testing, installing, and maintaining equipment used to automate processes in a manufacturing environment. You will assist in the process of assembly, troubleshoot, and repair of the Facility Management & Control System (FMCS). 






** This is a full-time onsite position located in North Phoenix, AZ * 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Perform requirements classification of clients, communicating project requirements and design review with internal & external design team. Understand drawing and review specifications and estimation.

  • Conduct onsite inspection to ensure that workmanship conforms with specifications and assure adherence to construction schedules.

  • Assist procurement team on the procurement of FMCS systems equipment & materials’ and assist in contractors’ awards. Review & reply RFI (Request for Information) and change orders.

  • Perform the required scope of work and clarify specification with stakeholders.

  • Review progress reports, materials used and costs, contract payment application, and adjust work schedules as indicated by the reports.

  • Manage materials related to FMCS testing. Perform testing & commissioning.

  • Review and oversee the installation of FMCS systems and instruments.

  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports for internal use and client communication.

  • Anticipate and prevent problems from rising.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.         


Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Control Engineering, System Engineering, or a related field.

  • 1-5+ years of experience in Control Systems Planning.

  • FMCS Construction/Manufacturing experience, a plus.


Skills and Competencies:



  • Strong understanding of FMCS systems including hardware and operational documentation of instruments & control elements, PLC, DCS and control networking.

  • Familiarity with Sensors, analyzers, actuators, HMI to measure and control variables like pressure, temperature, flow, level, humidity, pH, force, and speed.

  • Understand isometrics, P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Design) and CAD layout drawings specifically for FMCS systems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

  • Ability to use engineering software, such as AutoCAD, or others.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • High level of attention to detail, and highly organized. High problem-solving skills. 

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees.

  • Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.

  • Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).


Language Proficiency:



  • Effective English verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin/Taiwanese is a plus.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees.

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence.


Nice to have:



  • Start-up experience.


Additional Requirements:



  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions. International travel may be required.

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance or mechanical equipment.

  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to perform assigned tasks.

  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and operate tools, equipment, or materials.

  • Perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, and arms.

  • Climb ladders, stairs, or elevated surfaces as required by the job.

  • Maintain visual acuity sufficient to read labels, instructions, safety signage, and documentation.

  • Maintain balance and coordination while moving materials or operating equipment.

  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments requiring frequent movement and manual labor.


Work Environment:



  • Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment.

  • Indoor and/or outdoor work environments, which may include varying temperatures and weather conditions.

  • Work in confined spaces, elevated areas, or active job sites, depending on project requirements.

  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility vests.

  • Interaction with powered industrial equipment, tools, and vehicles.
