Job Description - Insurance Collections Specialist


Founded in 1979 by a group of very involved, hands-on, highly regarded therapists, Children’s Therapy Center is on a mission to maximize the potential of children with disabilities. Our approach is to dismantle racism and ableism by offering collaborative, personalized, and family-centered physical, occupational, and speech therapy. We believe in the power of teamwork and offer early intervention services and multidisciplinary, play-based, and child-led early childhood special education.

 

Children’s Therapy Center is seeking a full-time Insurance Collection Specialist to join our Billing Team! Based out of our Kent campus, our Insurance Collection Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing all activities related to the collection of claims from insurance companies and individuals following the initial submission. 


Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

· Identifies outstanding insurance balances over 60 days old from suspense/insurance reports.

· Runs suspense report for outstanding self-insured and research balances over 30 days old.

· Research accounts over 60 days old to determine facts and develop collection strategy.

· Communicates with patients, insurance companies and other responsible parties to facilitate collection of outstanding debt. Communication includes both verbal and written notices. 

· Records communication accurately in the electronic medical record system (Raintree).

· Maintain monthly insurance category and aging statistics. Report findings and submit report to Billing Office Manager.

· Determine which categories need improvement. 

· Determine problems with a specific insurance category, insurance carrier and/or provider set up. Correct the problems to facilitate payment from insurance companies.

· Appropriately utilizes program staff, and other admin support partners to follow-up on patient insurance/claim questions or problems.

· Meets production level standards as set by Billing Manager.

· Communicates with patients, CTC personnel, and other pertinent parties effectively. Interacts in a friendly, courteous, concise and professional manner in both written and verbal communications.

· Maintains patient confidentiality.

· Contributes to a positive, enjoyable, cooperative and smooth-functioning work environment. 

· Understands and follows corporate Safety and Compliance Programs. Understands and complies with company/department policies and procedures.

· Participates in clinic/company meetings. Attends company-sponsored functions and community events as able.

· Additional duties as assigned.

Demonstrable experience and other qualifications:

· 2+ years of previous related experience required

· Pediatric therapy and neurodevelopmental billing knowledge are preferred.  

· Proficient with Medical Practice Management Software (Raintree preferred), Excel and other Microsoft applications

· Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey thoughts and express ideas effectively using various oral, written, visual, and/or non-verbal skills.

· Effective listening skills, including the ability to recognize, comprehend and appreciate various perspectives and diverse points of view.

· Organized and detail oriented, with the ability to organize work to meet various commitments and responsibilities.

· Ability to anticipate potential challenges, and adjust to changes as needed.

· Collaborative and participatory; serves as an active member of the team, inviting diverse perspectives to support organizational priorities and common goals.

· Demonstrated the ability to include, value, respect, and engage perspectives that cross cultural backgrounds, lived experiences, and diverse points of view.

· Strong decision-making skills, including the ability to complete duties factoring appropriate or relevant details, considerations, and input from all individuals impacted. 

· Consciously and intentionally operates with self-awareness; consistently seeking opportunities to learning and grow in proactive and respectful ways

· Organized and detail oriented with strong analytical, and problem-solving skills

· Support CTCs vision, mission, values and policies to support a positive workplace culture

· Other duties as assigned

Other Information

This is a full-time position that requires a minimum of three full days per month working onsite (Monday-Friday). The primary office is located in Kent, Washington; however, the role may be flexible to work in other office locations in Burien, Kent, Maple Valley, and Tacoma.

Compensation & Benefits:

Children’s Therapy Center offers equitable and competitive pay commensurate with job-related experience and education. The pay rate range for this position is $20.55-$33.67 per hour dependent on related experience and education.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes generous paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and continuing education benefits.  Supplemental/premium insurance options are also available.  Eligible employees can enroll in our retirement plan with their first paycheck and will be eligible for company contributions after their first year of employment.
