Job Title: Insurance Coordinator

Department: Business Office 

Reports To: Business Office Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 40/week 

Shift: Days, with the option to work remotely one to two days per week

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC

Our Insurance Coordinator is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and verifying all aspects of the insurance credentialing process for the physicians and FCMC facilities. This important process ensures that FCMC maintains high-quality standards. More specifically, these responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all physician and facility credentialing and recredentialing applications and information are completed, accurate, and up-to-date with all contracted payers and networks
  • Developing, tracking, and maintaining physician and facility rosters to keep accurate and detailed records on the physicians and facilities
  • Tracking the expiration of certifications and privileges to maintain up-to-date files 
  • Ensuring payer enrollment information is complete, accurate, and up-to-date for all active Electronic Health Records systems for physicians and facilities
  • Maintaining physician and facility attestations and consent forms with significant payers, networks, and databases
  • Providing payers and networks with requested documentation on physicians and facilities
  • Coordinating with payers and networks available in our area and the surrounding areas
  • Organizing, maintaining, and tracking insurance contracts, including term dates, and coordinating contract reviews and negotiations with authorized parties
  • Maintaining and updating physician and facility malpractice and liability insurances with preferred vendors
  • Must comply with HIPAA to protect information that is sensitive, proprietary, or confidential 
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain infection control standards set by the facility 

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience with health insurance products and processes is a must
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Good communication and comprehension skills, both oral and written, in the English language
  • Ability to effectively problem solve, work independently, manage time, organize work, and meet deadlines and goals
  • Ability to maintain confidential information

Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required
  • Regularly required to sit, bend, stoop, and stretch
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, copy machine, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight
  • Occasionally requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds

Work Environment:

  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year: operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • This role works in typical office conditions with a low noise level
