Insurance Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Description - Insurance Quality Assurance Specialist

Overview

A growing, nationwide independent insurance brokerage is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Quality Assurance Specialist to join its operations team in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The organization specializes in personal lines insurance, including home, auto, and umbrella coverage, and works with multiple leading insurance carriers to provide customers with suitable coverage options.

As the company continues to expand, maintaining policy accuracy, underwriting compliance, and strong carrier relationships remains a key priority. This role offers an opportunity for an experienced insurance professional who enjoys investigative work, problem-solving, and improving operational quality.

This is not a sales position. It is a specialized quality assurance role focused on ensuring insurance policies are issued accurately, comply with carrier requirements, and meet internal quality standards.

The Role

The Insurance Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for reviewing newly bound personal lines insurance policies to verify accuracy, completeness, underwriting eligibility, and compliance with carrier guidelines.

The position serves as an independent quality checkpoint, identifying policy discrepancies, investigating errors, coordinating corrections, and recommending improvements to prevent recurring issues.

Success in this role means maintaining high policy accuracy rates, resolving discrepancies efficiently, strengthening compliance processes, and supporting a consistent customer experience.

The specialist will collaborate closely with insurance producers, account managers, operations leadership, carrier representatives, and internal technology teams to ensure policy integrity throughout the post-binding process.

Responsibilities

  • Review newly bound homeowners, auto, and other personal lines insurance policies to verify accuracy across applications, declarations, carrier systems, CRM records, and supporting documentation.

  • Validate policyholder information, including insured names, drivers, household members, addresses, property details, lienholders, mortgagees, and applicable exclusions.

  • Review underwriting eligibility and rating factors such as driving history, claims, property occupancy, construction type, and other carrier-specific requirements.

  • Ensure policies comply with carrier underwriting guidelines, binding restrictions, agency procedures, and documentation requirements.

  • Audit producer codes, carrier programs, discounts, incentives, and book transfer eligibility to identify potential errors or compliance concerns.

  • Investigate post-bind changes, endorsements, discrepancies, and unusual policy adjustments, coordinating necessary corrections with producers and carrier representatives.

  • Maintain detailed quality assurance records, track discrepancies through resolution, and escalate critical or unresolved issues to operations leadership.

  • Analyze recurring policy errors, prepare quality reports, and recommend targeted training, process improvements, and automated quality controls to improve overall accuracy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of personal lines insurance experience, preferably within underwriting, policy servicing, quality assurance, or insurance agency operations.

  • Strong knowledge of homeowners and auto insurance, including rating factors, underwriting eligibility, policy documentation, and carrier requirements.

  • Experience working with multiple insurance carrier quoting or servicing platforms.

  • Ability to review insurance applications, declarations, endorsements, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate potential errors, and coordinate corrective actions.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high-volume workloads and multiple priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills when working with producers, management, and insurance carrier representatives.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, CRM systems, and standard business applications.

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality and compliance standards.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience within an independent insurance agency or brokerage.

  • Experience using EZLynx, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar insurance agency management and CRM platforms.

  • Prior experience conducting policy audits, underwriting reviews, or carrier compliance assessments.

  • Familiarity with major personal lines insurance carriers, including Safeco/Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Progressive, and Nationwide.

  • Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license.

  • Experience developing quality assurance scorecards, audit procedures, or operational improvement initiatives.
