What You’ll Do

The Insurance Verification Specialist supports patients and the Rehabilitation Services team by verifying insurance coverage, obtaining prior authorizations, and ensuring all admitting paperwork is accurate and compliant. This role is essential for a smooth admission process and requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving.

• Verify insurance coverage prior to patient admission via phone, fax, or email


• Obtain prior authorization for Medicaid patients and request additional authorization for worker’s comp cases


• Resolve insurance coverage issues and escalate complex cases to a supervisor or manager


• Interview patients and complete all required admitting paperwork in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards


• Confirm accurate posting of daily charges and scan orders, insurance, and fax confirmations into Cedaron and Meditech


• Fax evaluations, progress notes, and discharges to providers as needed


• Assist with patient re-registration at the start of each month


• Perform additional clerical or administrative tasks and other duties as assigned

Who We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty preferred.


• An American Heart Association approved BLS certification required within 3 months of initial employment and maintained throughout employment.


• Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.


• 2 - 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred.

  Pay Range: $20.37 - $22.68/hour (based on experience)

Compensation may vary outside this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.
